Last week, we were thrilled to host a lively and informative orthopaedic event dedicated entirely to knees!

A huge thank you to Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr John Lynch, who captivated the audience with his expert insights into the causes of knee pain and the latest treatment options available.

Mr Lynch was joined by Advanced Practice Physiotherapist Jenny White, who added valuable insight to the evening with her advice on the importance of prehabilitation, highlighting the benefits of staying active, eating well, and persevering with prescribed exercises during the recovery period.

We will be running more events throughout the second half of the year, so please stay tuned for more details!

Meet Joanna, one of our Healthcare Assistants at Harbour Hospital. Joanna has worked at the Harbour since January and is part of a team that plays a vital role in supporting both patients and clinical staff.

Healthcare Assistants take great pride in ensuring patients feel comfortable and well cared for at all times. They provide personalised care and often emotional support, to ensure that patients' individual needs are met at all times. Working closely with nurses and doctors, HCAs play a key role in providing patients with a seamless and compassionate healthcare experience.

Joanna is enjoying being part of the Harbour Hospital team. “What I like most is connecting with patients and helping them to feel better. It’s incredibly rewarding being part of such a warm, friendly team that truly works together to make a difference to people’s lives.”

This sentiment has certainly been echoed in the lovely thank you cards Joanna has received recently from patients she has cared for, pictured below.
Well done, Joanna! ⭐

Can you spare a few pennies to show support to this truly inspirational young lady?

Molly Taylor, daughter of consultant orthopaedic foot surgeon Mr Heath Taylor, has been raising money for The OddBalls Foundation, a charity dedicated to raising awareness of testicular cancer.

Molly commented, “As a university ambassador for The OddBalls Foundation, I’ve seen how important early detection and education are, and how many people still don’t regularly check themselves or know the signs.”

To support this cause, Molly took on a marathon-distance hike along one of the UK’s most iconic routes: the Jurassic Coast, from Durdle Door to Old Harry Rocks. The route was around 25 miles of coastal terrain, so we wanted to share Molly’s fantastic achievement, which she completed last Saturday.

To show your support, please click on this link and donate anything you can afford, as it all helps! Thank you
