Things your child can do when they get home to reflect on there day and practice self regulation ‼️
1️⃣ Painting or a crafts activity, it encourages mindfulness, slowing down and loosening tension
2️⃣ Drawing how your day felt, using colour and free hand drawing to process your emotions, experiences and worries
3️⃣ Food! Having your favourite sensory snack can help decompress, provide dopamine, dissociate and focus on flavour/ texture
4️⃣ Limited tv time, I used to watch my favourite show when I got home from school and it helped me switch off and rot a little which is actually what my overstimulated brain needed
5️⃣ Exercise, get some of that energy out through active movement or slower mindful movement
6️⃣ Read, another mindful present activity
7️⃣ Brain dump your day in a journal or mindmap
8️⃣ Do any of the above in quiet mode, go to your room, be somewhere you can’t be disturbed for a while
Remember this doesn’t only apply to children, parents need time to decompress and regulate too ✨‼️
Reason 4 Being combines coaching conversations with creative activities to help our children create their own unique folder and tool box of skills to help them manage their struggles.
