🌊 Celebrating International Men’s Day at Marjorie House! 🌊

To mark International Men’s Day, two of our male residents enjoyed a relaxing morning trip to Poole Quay. Over coffee, we shared plenty of laughs while chatting about the harbour, travel, and life experiences.

We then took a pleasant walk to admire the boats before a short sightseeing drive around Sandbanks, even spotting Marjorie House from across the water.

Everyone returned just in time for lunch, rounding off a cheerful and memorable outing! ☀️

Brazilian Cultural Day at Marjorie House! 🇧🇷

We hosted a vibrant Brazilian Cultural Day, and our residents had a fantastic time!
We began the morning with a fun Brazilian-themed quiz in the Seaview Lounge, which brought lots of smiles and friendly competition.

In the afternoon, residents gathered in the Captains Club to explore Brazil’s rich geography, fascinating history, colourful culture, and delicious traditional foods. Patrick, our Executive Chef, treated everyone to a taste of Brazil by preparing authentic dishes, including the nation’s much-loved signature meal.

We also enjoyed learning some basic Portuguese phrases, making the day both educational and enjoyable.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for creating such a lively and memorable experience! 💛💚

🎶 A Dream Come True for Barbara! 🎶

We were absolutely delighted to make one of our residents’ wishes come true this week. 💫

Judith from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra visited our home for a special live cello performance, filling the room with beautiful music and smiles. 🎻💛

The performance soon drew in other residents, creating a warm, heartfelt atmosphere. At the end, Barbara shared a heartfelt thank-you to Judith and our amazing team for helping make her long-held dream come true. 🌟

✨ Children in Need at Marjorie House! ✨

Yesterday, our wonderful residents teamed up to create ten colourful Pudsey T-shirts for Children in Need. 👕💛 Their creativity and enthusiasm were inspiring!

Today, we continued the celebrations in the Captain’s Club, where we were joined by the lovely members of the Church of Transfiguration choir. Together, we enjoyed a joyful afternoon of singing in support of this fantastic cause. 🎶💛

It was a truly heart-warming celebration of community, kindness, and togetherness. We’re so proud of everyone who took part!

🌟 Today at Marjorie House 🌟

We were delighted to welcome residents from Alexandra House today! The morning began with a tour of Marjorie House and its beautiful harbour views, followed by some energising chair exercises and a fun quiz to help everyone get to know each other.

After a delicious lunch, we joined our Welcome Wednesday Knit and Natter before saying goodbye to our lovely visitors. 🧶💛

💛 Today, residents of Marjorie House were joined by members of the Church of the Transfiguration for a moving Service of Remembrance, led by Rev. Andrew. At 11 o’clock, we observed a respectful two-minute silence to honour those who served.

The service was heartfelt and brought comfort to all. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed warm drinks, mince pies, and lovely conversation, a truly special moment of reflection and togetherness. 🕊️

🌺 Honouring Remembrance 🌺

This Saturday morning, our residents gathered in the Captain’s Club for a heartfelt poppy-making session in honour of Remembrance. The room was filled with warmth, laughter, and conversation as everyone shared memories and stories while crafting their own poppies to wear with pride.

It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect, connect, and support one another, coming together to commemorate those who served and sacrificed.

🌟 They’re back and better than ever! 🌟

On Thursday,7th November, three of our residents enjoyed a lovely morning at the newly reopened Poole Museum. 🚌✨

They explored fascinating exhibits on local history and wildlife, and even caught up with some friendly faces from Elizabeth House who were also visiting. Before heading home, everyone relaxed with a hot drink in the museum café, The Salt Pig☕️ “the perfect pit stop, whether you’re fuelling up before your visit, taking a mid-exploration breather, or winding down after a day of exploring.”

🐾 A Very Special Visitor! 🐾

We had a wonderful visit from Winnie, the lovely therapy dog! 🐶💛

Winnie spent time visiting each of our residents individually, spreading smiles, comfort, and plenty of joy wherever she went. Many of our residents shared fond memories and heartwarming stories of the dogs they’ve loved over the years, sparking some truly lovely conversations.

It was so special to see the happiness Winnie brought to everyone. Her visit really brightened up the whole home! 🌟

🎆 Fireworks Night Fun! 🎇

Our residents gathered in the ground floor courtyard to celebrate Fireworks Night with a cheerful sparkler display arranged by our wonderful staff team. Everyone wrapped up warm against the crisp evening air, enjoying the twinkling lights, laughter, and festive atmosphere.

It was lovely to hear residents share fond memories of past fireworks displays and family celebrations, filling the courtyard with smiles and conversation. 💫

A big thank you to our staff for making the evening so special. It truly brought warmth, joy, and a wonderful sense of community to a chilly November night! ❤️
