☕🍰 Join us for a Macmillan Coffee Morning at Marjorie House! 🍰☕

We’d love to welcome our friends, families, and local community to Marjorie House this Friday from 10:30am – 12:00pm for a very special Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning.

There will be plenty of hot drinks, delicious cakes, good company – and even the chance to enjoy some fun games together. 🎲✨

It’s the perfect way to spend the morning, while also supporting the incredible work of Macmillan Cancer Support.

🌸 A Lovely Morning at Haskins Garden Centre 🌸

Last Wednesday, some of our residents enjoyed a trip to Haskins Garden Centre. We spent time exploring the beautiful plants and flowers – with one of our residents, who used to run a nursery and garden centre, impressing us all by naming each plant before we’d even seen the labels! 🌿🌼

After our walk around, we headed to the café for a hot drink and a chat before returning home for lunch. It was a truly enjoyable morning out, filled with fresh air, friendship, and lots of smiles. 💛

🧶☕ Welcome Wednesday Knit & Natter at the Captain’s Club 🎨💛

Last Wednesday, some of our lovely residents gathered for our regular Knit & Natter session – joined by the wonderful ladies from the Church of the Transfiguration. The afternoon was filled with laughter, creativity, and companionship.

Our residents are working on a very special project – knitting colourful patches that will be stitched together into blankets, ready to keep everyone cosy on our winter minibus trips. 🧵✨

While some picked up the needles, others chose painting, making it a truly creative afternoon for all. We then rounded things off with delicious cakes and hot drinks – the perfect way to end a day of food, fun and friendship.

We can’t wait to see the beautiful blankets take shape in the months ahead! 💛

🐾✨ A very special visitor came to see us last week – Guide Dog Tessa!

Tessa is on her final working year, travelling around to raise funds and awareness for Guide Dogs after an incredible 10 years of loyal service. 💛

The visit was especially meaningful for one of our residents, who holds an MBE for her support of Guide Dogs over the years. She was thrilled to meet Tessa, and the two enjoyed a wonderful chat about Tessa’s amazing decade of service.

It was a truly heart-warming afternoon that left everyone smiling. 🐶💙

🌸 Namaste Care in Action 🌸

Eva led a spontaneous Namaste Care session with staff – and the results were magical! ✨

She set the scene with calming oils in the diffuser, soft waterfall sounds, gentle northern lights, and soothing lavender hand massages. Residents were naturally drawn to the atmosphere, and before long, everyone was relaxed and enjoying the moment together. 💜

There were some truly special highlights:
💆 Mary gave Anthony a massage to show her gratitude.
🌸 Christine joined in by gently massaging the baby doll.
😊 Margaret was the last to arrive, drawn by the calmness and connection of the group.

Staff were amazed at how peaceful and uplifting the session felt – and the whole floor now smells of lavender! 🌿

Moments like these remind us of the power of simple touch, sensory experiences, and shared connection. 💕

🌊🐬 Two of our lovely residents had the most wonderful day out on The Friends of Dolphin harbour cruise!

We set off from Poole Quay and made our way towards Round Island, where we were lucky enough to spot a seal lounging on a jetty. 🦭💙 As we cruised around Green Island, Furzey Island and Brownsea Island, everyone enjoyed a hot drink and shared fond memories of their own sailing adventures.

On the way back, we even spotted Marjorie House from the water – a perfect ending to a beautiful day on the harbour! 🛥️✨

📸 We had a wonderful visit from Clare at The Curiosity Case who brought along an amazing collection of cameras, photographs and postcards!

Our residents loved looking through the items and sharing their own memories of photography – from the days of film cameras to how we take pictures today. It was a lovely afternoon full of nostalgia and conversation. 💙

✨ Pamper Afternoon for Our Ladies ✨

On Friday, 22nd August, our wonderful female residents enjoyed a calming pamper afternoon. 💅🌸

We were joined by Anne from Tropics, who treated everyone to refreshing hand scrubs – leaving our ladies with wonderfully soft hands. There were also nail painting sessions and some foot spas for extra relaxation.

To complete the afternoon, our residents enjoyed hot drinks and delicious light cake bites lovingly prepared by our Executive Chef, Patrick. ☕🍰

It was a truly calming, relaxing, and enjoyable experience – and our ladies left feeling refreshed and pampered. 💖

✨ This Week We Celebrated Our Leos ✨

This week, our lounge was filled with colour, music, and laughter as we came together to celebrate our Leo residents and staff.

With brushes in hand, residents painted beautiful lions while a soundtrack of The Lion King, Roar, and The Lion Sleeps Tonight set the scene. Conversations flowed as we explored star sign traits and shared personal reflections, sparking smiles and nods of recognition.

It was a morning of creativity, connection, and celebration — and the pride in everyone’s finished artwork was simply heartwarming. 🖌️❤️

A wonderful afternoon at Marjorie House! 🌊📖
Myrna shared the story of Poole Harbour while residents enjoyed the beautiful photos and reminisced about their own experiences. We’re so lucky to see the harbour from our lounges and balcony! 💙

She also brought The Book of Poole Harbour, featuring stunning paintings by her late father, renowned artist Eustace Nash – some of which can be seen at the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery. 🎨✨

🎉💐 Happy 90th Birthday, Maree! 💐🎉

On Friday, we celebrated a very special milestone for our wonderful resident, Maree! 🥳 She spent the day surrounded by residents, family, and staff, enjoying a fun sing-along of all her favourite songs, delicious birthday cake, and plenty of laughs.

Maree was showered with beautiful gifts, cards, and flowers 🌸, and was truly spoiled with a surprise pampering session in our Marjorie House beauty salon — her granddaughter treated her to a fresh manicure 💅, which Maree said was “just lovely.”

It was a day full of love, music, and joy — and we’re so happy to have shared it with her. 💖
