Transiting via Amsterdam airport this morning I came across these LED masks in duty free.
What’s really interesting is there is no information as to how much energy is being emitted from these devices. Whilst the masks offer a range of therapeutic lights there is no information as to what the dosage of light is on the skin. It’s a bit like buying a car and having absolutely no idea how fast it can go.
This information may have simply been omitted because the manufacturers may think that Joe Public won’t understand light energy, however unless you’re getting a combined light energy of at least 40 joules in a 20-30 minute time frame, it’s not going to do a lot for your skin.
I’m awaiting some technical data on these so it’ll be interesting to see the outcome.
There’s obviously been a lot of thought put into to the aesthetic design of the mask, let’s hope the technical side proves to be equally impressive.

The importance of using laser eye goggles correctly.
In this first of a series which I’m going to call ‘Kerry Belba’s Pet Peeves’, I’m going to be highlighting unsafe laser treatment practices that I see on social media as well as bad treatment techniques which are either unsafe or will not get the desired results.
In this video I talk about the importance of attaching the goggles to the elastic and securing this around the client / patient’s head.
Laser eye goggles are hands down the single most important piece of safety equipment when it comes to protecting yourself and your client.
All too often I see these very goggles being lightly placed over the client’s eyes without the strap that goes around the head, proceeded by a Class IV laser being waved around the face.
This is a potentially really dangerous practice which could have catastrophic effects. Please don’t do it.
If the client was to jump and / or the goggles got knocked off and they opened their eyes and moved their head, they could be blinded.
These goggles are not there to be aesthetically pleasing or to make videos ‘look cool’. They are a critical piece of safety kit. Please use them accordingly 🙏

A word on sun exposure……
The sun is finally out and summer is here! 🤗🌞
However, if you are having laser treatment and wish to continue over the summer, the area we are treating must be kept out of the sun. If you are having your face treated, this means apply an SPF30 or 50 and (crucially) a wide-brimmed hat.
Unfortunately, sunscreen alone will not stop you from tanning, so a hat is critical if you wish to continue with your skin rejuvenation treatments.
if we are treating a tattoo, we suggest to either cover this up with clothing or put a plaster on top of the area, leaving a half centimetre gap between the edge of the tattoo and your tan line.

I’m going to be doing a series of lives called ‘Kerry’s Pet Peeves’. I see so much bad practice on social media when it comes to laser treatments, and worse still are the practices which are at best risky, or worse still, unsafe.
I was very lucky in that 20 years ago this year, back in 2004, I was trained by some of the top laser physicists in the UK. I’m always keen to point out that no one was born an expert in anything. We are only ever as good as our training. Sadly so much equipment comes with very bad training and not many people are OfQual registered level 4 or 5 laser trained.
I shall be starting with one of my pet peeves - the incorrect and the safe use of safety goggles!

We are very excited to announce that we are offering one person the chance to have laser tattoo removal with us completely free of charge!
Terms and conditions
👉tattoo must be visible on either the face, neck or hands (excluding SPMU eyebrows)
👉must not be a tattoo we are currently treating
👉chosen client must be happy to share before and after photos and to participate in social media posts
👉entries close on the 10th of March at 11.59pm
