We've been enjoying some Winter Olympics fun here at Canford Chase 🏂❄️

Companion Justin recently showed off full snowboard gear and explained how it all works, while residents shared their own snowy holiday memories. Lots of questions, laughter, and curiosity made for a morning full of Olympic spirit!

A sunny trip to Salisbury Cathedral ⛪🚌

Residents explored the cathedral, learning about its history, conservation work, and hidden architectural features. Pam described it as “pure brilliance and workmanship.”

An afternoon of exploration, conversation, and enjoyment - with plans to return for a sunny picnic later in the year.

Our recent art class was all about brush techniques and realistic flower petals 🎨

Residents enjoyed creating detailed flowers with just a single brush, and by the next day they were impressed with how realistic their work looked. A lovely, creative afternoon and everyone is already looking forward to the next session!

Here at Canford Chase, we celebrated Robert Burns Day with Scottish music, laughter, and reminiscing with our residents 🥂🎶

The morning was filled with traditional Scottish songs, tartan hats, and playful moments as staff and residents joined in together.

Familiar tunes encouraged singing along and gentle toe-tapping, while some light-hearted comedy added plenty of laughter.

All aboard! 🚢 Residents recently enjoyed a fascinating trip to the SeaCity Museum in Southampton to explore the Titanic exhibition.

From shipboard arcades to learning about the crew, passengers, and life on board, the afternoon was full of discovery. Residents even tried steering the ship and exploring the different cabin classes! It was an engaging and thought-provoking visit, sparking conversation, curiosity, and plenty of smiles along the way.

What an incredible honour it has been over the past year to raise funds for such a worthy cause, Poole Food Bank ❤️

Our team and residents were thrilled to hand over a cheque and hear more about how the money will help those in the community 🙌

We want to say the biggest thank you to everyone at Canford Chase Care Home for their truly amazing support over the last year.

From making and delivering free lunch packs for children during the half-term holidays, to hosting a summer fair, Christmas fair and bake sale, and finally presenting us with the most astounding gift — a cheque made up of funds raised through these events and the incredible generosity of the care home’s residents and their families — your support has been nothing short of wonderful.

When we recently visited, we came not expecting anything more than a quick hello, but instead we were welcomed so warmly with tea, cakes, and some truly lovely conversation. Spending the afternoon with such amazing people and then being presented with this generous donation was incredibly special and something we won’t forget.

Financial donations like this go such a long way and make a real, tangible difference. They help us to run initiatives such as our upcoming repurposing cooking classes, the recipe bags we provide at various points throughout the year, and other events aimed not only at upskilling our clients but also bringing moments of joy during what are very difficult times for a growing number of people in our community.

The kindness you show reaches far beyond a food parcel, and we are so grateful. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping to bring about positive and happy change.

Doreen recently treated everyone to a wonderful poetry session in the lounge 📖

Residents enjoyed hearing her favourite poems, sharing laughs, and talking about their own favourite authors. A lovely way to spend time together!

As the year draws to a close, everyone at Canford Chase would like to send our warmest Christmas and New Year wishes.

It’s been a year of shared stories, laughter, and community — and we look forward to continuing to create meaningful moments with our residents and their loved ones in 2026 🎉

All Saints Church recently joined us for an afternoon carol service, with choir members and congregation sharing festive songs with residents 🎶

Carol even sang with the choir, saying it “brought back fond memories of singing over Christmas with friends and family” 🎄

Residents recently enjoyed a festive trip to Stewarts Garden Centres in Christchurch, browsing the Christmas decorations and displays. Anne joked she could spend hours there — and a small fortune too!

A miniature Christmas village and animated festive characters caught everyone’s attention, with a singalong to Christmas songs along the way.

The visit ended with tea and cake, including Victoria sponge and coffee and walnut. A great afternoon out 🎄⛄️
