Working with funeral directors ⚰️🙏🏼

I am a huge advocate for doing a funeral your own way, making it personal, unique and bespoke for your person. I talk about how you don’t actually need to use a funeral director, not for all of it at least, and can make all the arrangements yourself if you wish. It can be done.

The reality is that not many people know that or want to take on that much organisation. I get it! When you are going through those heavy emotions it can be a lot more supportive to go to a funeral director. Often the last thing you want to do is plan an event on your own when you don’t know where to start (another reason for having these conversations before we die 🙏🏼)

Funeral directors (FD) have the knowledge and understanding to support you through your choices. They get how this world works, can make recommendations, talk to you about what your options are and help you through the whole process, taking a lot of the stress and panic away.

I genuinely love working with FDs who are as open and committed as I am, and there are many 🙏🏼 I love working with FD who are all about the people and not just the business. I love it when the FD has offered their family alternative ways of doing things, allowed their families to personalise the service and make it their own. A FD should offer whatever it is you and your person needs and wants, the options really are endless and there are minimal to no laws around how you do a funeral, what you use and where you go 💫

My work is a mix between working with families who contact me directly and with FDs. When you go to your FD, please know it is about YOU telling THEM what YOU want, not the other way around. You want me as your celebrant, they can call me on your behalf, you do not need to use who they say. Whatever you want, they can make it happen. Talk to them, ask questions and ‘shop around’. You need to find a FD that fits you, your person and your wishes. And they can be so different with their own niches, which is great, as you have more choice 🙏🏼
