Massage in any form is beneficial for the body and mind. However, hot stone massage has unique properties that make it exceptionally beneficial in relieving the stresses of modern life, general aches and pains, or even pain incurred from injuries.

The stones used are fashiond from basalt, a volcanic rock with high proportions of iron and silica which helps them absorb heat but release it slowly so that they do not burn the skin.

The application of heat during the massage encourages the blood vessels beneath the skin to expand, increasing circulation, which not only relaxes the muscles but improves the rate at which organs receive oxygen, enabling them to function more effectively.

In addition, the heat imparts a deep relaxing effect. As the muscles absorb the heat the become as if sedated, giving a feeling of calmness and tranquility. The rekaxingceffect of the heat penetrates through to muscle layers that would otherwise remain contracted, giving a much deeper massage without the application of uncomfortable, or sometimes even painful pressure.
