Mother’s Day is traditionally a day of celebration. A time to show our love and gratitude for the incredible women in our lives.
It can be a day of bright flowers, shared laughter, and happy memories.

But we also know that for many, this day is tinged with a different set of emotions.

If you are navigating this day without your mother, or a mother figure who shaped your world, today can bring a unique sense of loss and longing.

We understand. At Taylor and Wallis, we witness the legacy of mothers every day. We know that while life goes on, their absence is deeply felt.

• To those celebrating: Cherish every moment and every story.

• To those grieving: We see you. Your feelings are valid, and it is okay to sit with a mix of both joy and sadness today.

Let’s use today to celebrate motherhood in all its forms. The biological mothers, the grandmothers, the stepmothers, and all the women who stepped in when we needed them most.

However you choose to spend this day, may it be one of peace and reflection.

At Taylor & Wallis, we feel so grateful to work alongside Madgwick Carriage Masters

Today, the sun was out as our team joined Kevin to provide a stunning and graceful es**rt for a lovely lady’s last journey.

Every single detail was handled with the utmost respect, so thank you Kevin, for helping our team create such a beautiful, fitting and lasting memory for the family.

If you are having a difficult day, please remember you are not alone. Grief is not a linear journey, it doesn’t follow a schedule or a map.

Some days feel like a step forward, and others feel like a step back, and that is okay.

As A.A. Milne beautifully said: “Today is a difficult day.” And if today feels heavy, please know you don’t have to carry it by yourself.

Please be assured, we at Taylor and Wallis are here for you, not just during the service, but in the days and months that follow to offer support, care, and a listening ear whenever you may need it.

As we approach the end of 2025, we recognise that the New Year can bring a wide range of emotions.

While it is often a time for celebration, it can also be a meaningful moment for reflection and for remembering those who are no longer with us.

Our thoughts are with all the families we have served throughout the past year, and with everyone in our community who begin this new chapter carrying a loved one in their heart. 🕯️

From all of us at Taylor & Wallis, we wish you peace, comfort, and hope as the New Year unfolds.

For many, Christmas and the lead up to Christmas can be a very difficult time

While the world around us may feel full of celebration, for those who are grieving it can feel painfully quiet and overwhelming.

Christmas can bring a deep sense of loss, memories of what once was, and the ache of someone missing.

Through our work as funeral directors, we witness how grief can often feel heavier at this time of year.

If you are facing Christmas without a loved one, please know your feelings are completely valid. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and no expectation to feel festive.

You are not alone, even if it feels that way right now.

At Taylor and Wallis, we are always here to offer care, compassion, and support. Whether you need a conversation, a listening ear, or quiet reassurance, we are here for you.

Be gentle with yourself this Christmas 🤍
And remember, it’s okay to grieve, even now.

Losing a loved one is one of the toughest things our clients go through.
We are so grateful when they find a space in their hearts to thank us for our help and guidance.
Thank you!

🙏🏼 it's always appreciated when other motorists show a funeral cortege a moment of respect.

This morning, NAFD CEO Andrew Judd appeared on BBC Breakfast TV to discuss drivers cutting into funeral cortèges.

Andrew explained that while funerals have changed over 120 years, respect and dignity for the deceased never age. He reminded viewers that a cortège marks the final journey a person will ever take, and urged drivers to take a few moments to show empathy for grieving families.

He welcomed the chance to work with the Department for Transport so learner drivers understand why a procession moves slowly and that slowing down out of safety and respect, makes a real difference.

Andrew also noted that many motorists don’t realise they’re cutting into a cortège, and that plumes or flags, supplied by NAFD members, help identify these as special vehicles with a special purpose.
