ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in su***de first aid. Participants learn to recognise when someone may be at risk of su***de and respond in ways that help increase their immediate safety and link them to further help. ASIST aims to enhance a caregiver’s abilities to help a person at risk avoid su***de.

Over the course of their two-day workshop, ASIST participants learn to:

Understand the ways that personal and societal attitudes affect views on su***de and interventions.

Provide guidance and su***de first aid to a person at risk in ways that meet their individual safety needs.

Identify the key elements of an effective su***de safety plan and the actions required to implement it.

Appreciate the value of improving and integrating su***de prevention resources in the community at large.

Recognize other important aspects of su***de prevention including life-promotion and self-care.

Participants also receive a Resource pack and a certificate

Each year Tŷ Elis Counselling takes part in the All Saints Church Christmas Tree Festival, run by Rotary Porthcawl . Our lovely tree is decorated by our Friends and Volunteers and stands beautifully alongside over 40 other trees dressed by other local community organisations

These trees stand together and give a real message of hope even in the depths of winter, a reminder that much of the work we do at Tŷ Elis is aimed at helping people reconnect with their own hopes even in the darkest of situations.
