🏠🍭 Staff Gingerbread House Decorating Competition🍭🏠

We put our teams creativity to the test and held a Gingerbread House Decorating Competition and the results were amazing! Each team (nurses, doctors, admin and reception) received the same gingerbread house kit and then let their creativity run wild.

This ensures enough time for our 72-hour processing period, followed by the time your pharmacy needs to dispense your medication. 💊

Requests received after Wednesday 17th December cannot be guaranteed in time for Christmas.

Help track flu & respiratory viruses this winter 🩺

We are participating in the RCGP Research and Surveillance Centre flu-surveillance programme, which supports national monitoring of flu and other respiratory viruses.

As part of this, if you develop flu-like or respiratory symptoms, you may request a free at-home surveillance kit from TakeATestUK. Please use our practice voucher code L81600 when completing your request on their website: https://takeatestuk.com/

The test is straightforward, carried out at home, and helps national public-health teams understand how flu and similar viruses are spreading. All participation is voluntary, and your test results will be returned directly to you.

If your medication is due over the festive period, we are able to issue your prescription earlier for you, up to a maximum of 3 weeks early. 🎄⛄

Please ensure that we receive your request for medication on or before Wednesday 17th December to be guaranteed to have your medication in time for Christmas. This allows for a 72 hour turnaround time for our practice and then turnaround time for your pharmacy to be able to dispense your medication. 💊

You can order your medication quickly and securely using the NHS App, which is available at any time.

Please note that all requests must be reasonable and will only be issued if your medication is due over the festive period. Requests received after Friday 17th December cannot be guaranteed in time for Christmas.

A polite reminder to our patients

If you, or any of your dependants, have recently had an infection or have been unwell with a condition that may be contagious, please inform us before attending the practice. This enables us to take appropriate precautions and protect vulnerable individuals in our care.

We would also ask that anyone who has been recently unwell consider waiting in their car until called in, to help reduce the risk of infection spreading in the waiting area.

Free Asthma Support This Winter

One Care and MyMHealth are working together to provide free asthma support throughout the winter period. The MyMHealth platform offers expert guidance, educational materials, and practical tools to help individuals manage their asthma effectively.

This service is available to patients aged 13 and over who have a diagnosis of asthma. Support includes access to health coaches who can assist with improving understanding of the condition, practising inhaler technique, monitoring symptoms, and using a helpful ‘mind toolkit’.

The NHS in BNSSG has teamed up with Northpoint to offer SilverCloud — a free, confidential online resource designed to help young people (13+) manage anxiety, low mood, stress, and build resilience.

SilverCloud offers clinically developed programmes that can be accessed anytime from your phone, tablet, or computer. 📱💻

There are also dedicated modules for parents and carers to support their children’s emotional wellbeing.

📲 NHS App Messaging Update 📲

Our practice went live with this new messaging approach on the 12th November, and some of you may already have noticed the change. Individual messages to eligible patients are now delivered to the NHS App first. If a message is not opened within 60 minutes, it is automatically re-sent as a text message, ensuring important information is not missed.

Using the NHS App provides a secure and convenient way to receive messages, all in one place and linked directly to your health record.

If you already use the NHS App, please ensure notifications are enabled by following these steps:

Open the NHS App on your smartphone

Select More in the top right corner

Select Account and settings

Select Manage notifications

Switch on Send me notifications about new messages
