7 Ways to improve Mental Health
WEEK 2= Being Active

Exercise not only benefits your physical and mental health but it also improves your overall mood and happiness. When you exercise, endorphins (feel good chemicals) are released in the brain, leading to an overall more positive mood. Exercise can also lead to a boost in self-esteem and self-confidence.

So, join a local club or simply go for a 10 minute walk every day. You will start to notice the positive effects very quickly!

7 Ways to Improve Mental Health.
WEEK 1 = Social Connectivity

People who feel more connected to others have lower levels of anxiety and depression. Studies show that a positive impact of this is that people have higher self-esteem, greater empathy and are more trusting. So, pick up the phone to family/friends or simply go into a shop for a pint of milk and chat with the sales assistant for a few minutes. It will improve your day!

Thank you to all of you who have ‘liked’ or followed our page. Gordano CBT was established in 2019, running successful courses to assist with various mental health difficulties. We made the difficult decision in May 2020 to postpone our courses and other activities, until we were able to meet people face to face. We now feel able to restart our aim of bringing mental health awareness and understanding to our local community. So, we are up and running, watch this space…..

There is a common misconception that talking about it will make them more likely to do it but the opposite is true. This podcast tells you how to broach the subject, the words to use and what to do when they say they do have thoughts about ending their own life. Talking saves lives.....

In these times of uncertainty it is important to remember how change can be positive. This is a time to “take stock” - spend time on yourself, eat well, read, take up a hobby, listen to a meditation...breathe and relax.

Self Care is a necessary part of our lives that we have to learn to do. It can be as small as a cup of herbal tea whilst listening to a favourite piece of music to cooking a nutritious meal to something bigger such as a weekend break away. The effect will be the same - relaxation, well-being, rest and self validation you are worth the care.

Self kindness can be about challenging our internal bully - negative self bias - or doing something different - a lavender bath, going for a walk by the sea, lighting a candle. Pop some self kindness in your routine each day - you will feel the benefits.
