I am delighted to have completed the ACT Bootcamp Europe in Utrecht, an intensive four-day training led by none other than Dr. Steven Hayes, the originator of ACT, together with Dr. Robyn Walser (expert in trauma and grief) and Drs. Gijs Jansen (leading ACT trainer in the Netherlands).
This program provided an exceptional opportunity to deepen my understanding of the psychological flexibility model since my MSc, and its clinical application. We explored:
The core ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy) processes and those within the expanded Extended Evolutionary Meta-Model (EEMM)
Case conceptualisation, functional analysis, and integration with network models
Experiential exercises, role-plays, and live, interactive demonstrations
Cutting-edge developments in the ACT research and clinical evidence base (more than 600 meta-analysis with huge breadth of effective application)
The calibre of participants; world-class psychologists, psychiatrists, and clinicians, made the training even more unique. To learn, collaborate, and exchange perspectives with such esteemed professionals was inspiring, and I’m grateful for the ongoing connections and friendships.
Learning directly from some of the most respected psychologists in the world was a rare privilege. I’m excited to bring this depth of knowledge; rooted in science, compassion, and practical application into my own clinical mindfulness-based therapy with clients.
