Emma Bexon Training and Therapy now has a new operations base!

I will now be working out of Nailsea and I cannot thank all of my clients enough for the support and patience they have shown me whilst I get back up at running! The gym isn't fully complete yet but everything will be the same if not better than when you last saw me in Portbury!

Perfect blend of strength, shoulder stability and core power with this move!

Think my clients shoulder is definitely stronger now! If you don't have ways to progress your rehab and continue to get stronger within those ranges don't be surprised if the problems start to come back. A few banded exercises probably aren't going to get you our of pain, but starting with this exercise probably isn't the one for you...building strength, stability and control to bulletproof those shoulders and bodies!

New client came to me wanting to fix her back pain and get strong! She has worked so hard and with only her second time deadlifting managed to rep out 80 kilos.

Learning the basics of bracing, good technique and movement patterns are key before you can conquer the bigger lifts! So proud of her!

My client never thought she would be able to deadlift but not only did this cause no problem in her back, she absolutely smashed it!

This client had severely limited movement in the shoulder coupled with pain that led to a diagnosis of frozen shoulder. You can see from the first photo her internal rotation is extreamly limited compared to the other side, in order to even acomplish this her whole shoulder has to fall forward just to allow even this small range...this is called compensation! This forward rolling of the shoulder jams all the structures to the front of the socket, leading to pain and inflammation. You can see by the end, range has increased whilst maintaining a more balanced shoulder level, this is why it's important to show your shoulder how to move properly again after the release woeka

Shoulder can be tricky, and in the majority of cases soft tissue (massage work) is not enough. They need to be strengthened and retained in their proper movement patterns!

This is far from perfect, but after just one session I am super happy with the progress!

Massage has so many benefits to your physical and mental wellbeing but it's so easy with our busy lives to overlook some vital self care. You don't need to be an athelete to benefit from sports massage, and even deep tissue massage has countless benefits to help aid you in maximising your bodies capabilities and relaxing your mind!

A lot of shoulder issues I see stem from lack of mobility and or lack of stability (usually both)

This right shoulder had a pretty drastic lack of internal rotation, some soft tissue work and external rotation activation and this shoulder felt so much better just after one session!

The next part is the key bit, strengthen those new ranges of motion so it doesn't fall back into bad habits!

I have been working with this client for a long time and now she is trusting me through her pregnancy journey. Every week we strengthen up the key areas that are impacted through her pregnancy and we regularly massage to help promote good posture and keep her in tip top condition for all that is to come! It's focus is not sports massage, I am also highly trained in pre and post natal training and massage!

Prenatal massage has so many benefits and has been shown to alleviate both short- and long-term stress. Massage helps to stimulate the valgus nerve helping to regulate the parasympathetic nervous system but it also helps to reduce the body's production of cortisol (key stress hormone)

Pregnancy causes many common complaints in the hips, pelvis, lower back, legs and ankles as your body adapts to the new stresses and weight distribution as you go through your pregnancy.

Pregnancy massage can help to alleviate them but also prevent them before they arise

Swelling is common during pregnancy and the 50% boost in blood flow during pregnancy can cause circulation to stagnate, which also contributes to water retention in the lower extremities.
By improving circulation, prenatal massage may also promote lymph drainage and help reduce the telltale swelling many women see during pregnancy.

Massage is known for its recouperation properties as well as enhancing and promoting better sleep patterns, many women going through pregnancy have trouble with this aspect so massage can help aid is promoting better sleep patterns.

A little about me 👋

I have a huge passion with all things rehab, strength and massage related. I work hard to be as highly trained in as many areas as I can be to offer you a service that is not only complete but carried out to a high standard and with care.

I am level 5 trained in sports massage and specialise in shoulder and hip pain. I am qualified in dry needling, cupping, oncological massage, pregnancy massage and deep tissue with hot stones so no matter what it is you need; maintenance or injury rehabilitation I've got you covered!

I also am level 5 training in personal training so if you are looking to elevate your training or just get started, my private workout space is perfect for whatever needs you may have!
