I have been working with this client for a long time and now she is trusting me through her pregnancy journey. Every week we strengthen up the key areas that are impacted through her pregnancy and we regularly massage to help promote good posture and keep her in tip top condition for all that is to come! Prenatal massage has so many benefits and has been shown to alleviate both short- and long-term stress. Massage helps to stimulate the valgus nerve helping to regulate the parasympathetic nervous system but it also helps to reduce the body's production of cortisol (key stress hormone)
Pregnancy causes many common complaints in the hips, pelvis, lower back, legs and ankles as your body adapts to the new stresses and weight distribution as you go through your pregnancy.
Pregnancy massage can help to alleviate them but also prevent them before they arise
Swelling is common during pregnancy and the 50% boost in blood flow during pregnancy can cause circulation to stagnate, which also contributes to water retention in the lower extremities.
By improving circulation, prenatal massage may also promote lymph drainage and help reduce the telltale swelling many women see during pregnancy.
Massage is known for its recouperation properties as well as enhancing and promoting better sleep patterns, many women going through pregnancy have trouble with this aspect so massage can help aid is promoting better sleep patterns.
