Today is world mental health day. This is my brother who sadly died due to su***de 😔. Not all the signs are there to tell that someone is suffering with mental health. Someone could be happy on the outside and dying on the inside. Su***de is still happening 💔 so let's try and check in on everyone whether they are suffering or not pick up the phone and reach out and talk to someone and just check in on them. Go to the shop and when you pay for your shopping tell the cashier have a nice day because that might cheer them up. When you get of the bus say thank you to the driver, anything can change a person's thinking and uplift their mood. Please be kind and to everybody on here, hope you have a good day as well..positive vibes only ✨️ 😊 ❤️

Alcohol and Mental Health:

Alcohol acts as a sedative, so it can help you feel more at ease. It may make you feel more socially confident at a party or help you forget your worries. However, these benefits are short term. When we drink alcohol it disrupts the balance of chemicals and processes in the brain. The relaxed feeling you experience when you have your first drink is due to the chemical changes alcohol causes in your brain. The alcohol starts to depress the part of the brain that we associate with inhibition. But these effects wear off fast and the pleasant feelings fade. If you rely on alcohol to mask your anxiety problems, you may find you become reliant on it to relax, which may lead to alcohol addiction. A likely side-effect of this is that the more you drink the greater your tolerance for alcohol will be. Over time you may need to drink more alcohol to get the same feeling. In the long term this pattern of alcohol use may affect your mental health. The following video also explains how alcohol can affect our mental health.

While the effects of alcohol can sometimes have a short-term positive impact on our mood, in the long term it can cause problems for mental health. Drinking ...

For anyone aged between 11 and 17 years the following Teen Appearance and Body Image study might be of interest.

➡️ ➡️➡️ NEW PROJECT ALERT ⬅️⬅️⬅️

🚀 Researchers at CAR are about to launch the exciting new ‘TABI’ study! ➡️ TABI stands for Teen Appearance and Body Image

This large-scale project, funded by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust Foundation, will explore factors associated with appearance adjustment in young people aged 11 to 17 years old 🧒🏼🧒🏽🧒🏻🧒🏿🧒🏾

Body image can often be a concern for young people. For health psychologists, this is important because body image dissatisfaction can have damaging consequences on physical health and psychological wellbeing. For young people with visible differences, there may be additional challenges to overcome with regards to body image and self-perception.

🔎 The TABI study aims to better understand the factors contributing to the development of appearance concerns in young people (both with and without visible differences).

🤝 This will allow us to develop evidence-based support for those in need.

💻 📱Anyone living in the UK aged 11 to 17 years old can participant. Taking part will involve completing a detailed online survey.

🌎 Please share this post so that we can reach as many people as possible and 👍 like our page TABI Study - Teen Appearance and Body Image to be kept up to date with the launch and progress of the study.
