This Saturday, Community Spotlight CIC are hosting a FREE walk and talk, led by Solent Original Walks, around the Hilsea Lines on Saturday 11 October. It starts at 12pm from Hilsea Station, no booking required.

Portsmouth Baton of Hope 2025 – A City United for Su***de Awareness and Prevention
On 26th September 2025, Portsmouth will proudly host a leg of the Baton of Hope — the UK’s biggest su***de prevention initiative — as part of a nationwide journey inspiring open conversations about mental health, hope, and change.

Carried by volunteers whose lives have been touched by su***de, the Baton will pass through our streets as a powerful symbol of remembrance, unity, and determination to save lives. Along the route, the city will come alive with community activities, each one shining a light on the importance of compassion, connection, and support for those in need.

Together, Portsmouth will join cities across the UK to break the silence, challenge stigma, and send a clear message: there is hope, and help is always within reach.

A reminder that you can travel for FREE on any bus journey starting in Portsmouth on weekends in September 🚌

During the free bus travel weekends in September 2023 and 2024, 191,000 extra bus journeys were made - that’s thousands of people enjoying fast, easy and greener journeys across Portsmouth! They also helped take 119,000 car journeys off the city's roads, reducing congestion and improving journey times for everyone.

📅 Join in this year and take the bus for free on 20, 21, 27 and 28 September. This covers all bus journeys that start within Portsmouth, including our on-demand minibus service, Pompey Link.

Take the bus for FREE every weekend this September 🚌

Portsmouth is celebrating Catch the Bus Month in style with free bus travel every Saturday and Sunday in September!

As part of the Portsmouth Bus Service Improvement Plan, Portsmouth City Council has collaborated with local bus companies First Bus Solent and Stagecoach Bus to offer free travel on all bus services when you get on the bus within the Portsmouth boundary.

📅 Free bus travel dates: 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, and 28 September.
