Join me tomorrow night with my IPBB volunteer hat on. A free get together for expectant and new parents. Our topic this month is physical wellbeing during pregnancy, and I am really looking forward to getting into the nitty gritty of it. Equally, if you have something else pressing you'd really like to talk about, that's wonderful too - we are here to support you! See you tomorrow :)

Coming up next Thursday 28th August - our online meet-up, now using Google Meet.
Our topic this month will be ‘’Physical well-being during pregnancy.”

The session is not limited to this topic however and you are welcome to bring other questions, thoughts, stories.

Our online meet-ups are low key and relaxed. We ask everyone to introduce themselves at the start of the meeting (or when you arrive if you can’t make the start any time is fine) but other than that you can join in as much as you like or just listen.

Prenatal yoga is back! My heart is so full just thinking about holding this space for you all. The journey of pregnancy and birth is such a special and transformative time, that deserves to be honoured. It is why I trained with YogaBirth - so that pregnancy, labour and birth are at the forefront of my teaching.

This class is for you if you want to:

- Build a sense of connection with your changing body
- Tune into your growing baby/ies
- Build your capacity to move in ways that feel good
- Listen to and follow the rhythm of your breath
- Prepare for labour and birth
- Feel grounded in your community
- Make choices that feel right for you and your baby/ies throughout your perinatal journey

Classes consist of around one hour of yoga, followed by a tea and chat with antenatal education/discussion.

Message here or whatsapp on 07706 134750. Express interest - ask questions - book a space. I'd love to hear from you.

What you can expect:

- A dedicated space for you to connect with your body after having your baby/babies

- Gentle movement that supports your physical recovery

- Laying a strong foundation that will be beneficial if you hope to begin or return to more high impact exercise (aka the toddler years!)

- Pelvic floor awareness

- Babies welcomed and embraced, with no expectation to 'behave'

- A non-judgemental space to be with other mothers/parents and share your highs and lows

If this sounds like what you're looking for, do get in touch.

Wishing those families moving on all the best as they navigate big transitions. Such a privilege to watch you grow, and so sad to say goodbye.

We've been raising caterpillars in our house. Watching them eat, grow, rest and transform. This was the last Painted Lady to leave the habitat. I was so excited to see this transformation before my very eyes, thinking it might give me a glimpse of understanding into what seemed impossible. I was wrong. It is as magical and mystical as it seems.

It is as impossible to me that the small child pottering around the train track, talking about connecting rods and cow catchers, is the very same human who grew inside of my and was birthed right there where the volcano tunnel is now standing. The same child who will likely tower above me one day, a fully grown adult.

I want to nurture a love of life and the world around us. Not just as something to enjoy or look after, but to understand IS us. When you're next outside, try just taking a moment to focus on your breathing and the life in you. See if you can slow down and notice that same life in something around you. We are not seperate to nature, it's wonder or its woe.

P.S If you're wondering where all the posts showing what tricky asanas I can bend into are, you'll be waiting a long time. I hope to share more on why soon x

Pause

Time to take a break from weekly teaching over the summer. We had our last postnatal session yesterday and it has truly been an honour. Many of the babies were just bumps when we started out - now they are babbling, sitting up, rolling around and some even trying to be on their feet. This group of mothers/parents have put their faith in me and each other. They have been open, honest vulnerable, loving and real! Many tears have been shared, with a healthy dose of laughter too. Thank you all for coming as you are ❤️

This block I incorporated some postnatal affirmations created by and it's been a wonderful avenue to explore together. Checking in with what we need, value and want to make space for.

Thank you for the lovely setting and wonderfully supportive staff.

I'm planning to run a few impromptu postnatal sessions in the park over the summer - but with our glorious British weather it will just be as and when the sun shines so I'll share it in my stories. If anyone has interest in an outdoor pregnancy session during the day, do let me know!

If you're in need of a pause yourself, I hope you can make that happen.

A few weeks ago, I had the absolute pleasure of participating in my first in-person study weekend. It is an opportunity for all the members to get together, deepen our knowledge, practice yoga and grow as teachers. It also meant seeing a beautiful part of the UK I've never visited, eating really delicious nourishing food and being around the best group of aunties to hold baby!

After the official welcome and introducing ourselves we gave a word on how we were feeling. My word was 'uplifted'. I had a sense of lightness and excitement for the weekend ahead. At the end of the weekend when we checked out, my word was 'rooted'. I came away with a real sense of what it is to be grounded in a supportive organisation with such wise and experienced women.

I'd not thought about those two words in advance, but I now realise how beautiful it reflects the YogaBirth teaching inspired by Vanda Scaravelli's approach. The movement of the spine in two directions. Moving down from the waist towards the legs, and lifting up from the waist through the head. Gravity pulls us to the earth, but that in turn allows us to find space and elongation in order to stretch up to the sky. In yoga we do this in conversation with the breath. In that environment I was free to slow down and follow my breath's natural rhythm. For the body this allows for extension and release of tension. It also eased some of the pushing and pulling in my mind.

I came away from that weekend feeling the support underneath me from the incredible people and history that make up YogaBirth. This had a rebounding effect of allowing me to further grow and rise up with greater confidence in my own way of being and teaching.

For my first study weekend I was able to breath "from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet" - and back again.

Community is so important when you have a baby and I will be eternally grateful to all those in mine. It's why I'll never skip the tea and chat element of a YogaBirth class - building community is a part of the yoga.

Today I enjoyed a wonderful walk with other parents, organised by A great opportunity to talk about anything and everything, enjoy the fresh air and get the body moving. Sophy was my Doula for both my births, so little moments like this seeing her cuddle my baby and make her giggle really bring me joy - as did eating my breakfast buttie with two hands as a result! Thank you Sophy for everything you do to support birthing families!

So excited to be restarting my Postnatal Yoga class very soon!

- A dedicated space for you to honour and connect with your body after having your baby/babies

- A dedicated space to breathe and feel the full spectrum of emotions

- Gentle movement that supports your physical recovery

- Laying a strong foundation that will be beneficial if you hope to return to or begin more high impact exercise (also known as the toddler years!)

- Pelvic floor awareness

- An expectation for babies to be seen and heard!

- A non-judgemental space to be with other parents and share your highs and lows

This class will be a little different, as my own baby will be joining me as co-facilitor. This will no doubt change the shape of the class a little, but she's already a great teacher. She has allowed me to once again feel all those postpartum aches, pains and pinches..all the love and all the challenges...the sleep deprivation..and the power of having good people around you at different stages on their own parenting journey who are brave enough to be vulnerable with you ❤️
