Congratulations to Portsmouth Force and their achievements! We are super proud to be part of this incredible club! 💙💛💚

🏀🏀🏀 NATIONAL Community Club of the Year 🏀🏀🏀

This award means so much to us as it recognises the community and not any one individual 🏆

None of this would be possible without the wonderful support of you, our partners, coaches, players, officials, parents, carers, supporters. You enable 400+ kids to keep active each week and fulfil their potential within a supportive environment.

We would also like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all of our sponsors who enable us to keep our costs as low as possible so that more kids can enjoy basketball and the teams do not have to buy their own kits.

Within the last year we have:

🏀Introduced 2 SEN sessions
🏀Added an additional U16 National League Team
🏀Taken Portsmouth Force to Guinea with our charity partners URBOND
🏀Launched Slam Jam, Basketball England's signature junior program
🏀Hosted Girls tournaments when they were not getting enough games
🏀Trained new coaches and officials
🏀Attracted crowds of 450+ to the Ravelin Centre to watch mens games
🏀Won the Southern Region Community Club of the Year for the second year in a row

We are also very proud that "Force in the Community" has thriving holiday camps and is now operating in even more schools and nurseries.

However, next year we want even more! To support this we will have:

🏀One more girls team (U16’s)
🏀An additional U14 National League team
🏀Portsmouth Force will be going to Guinea again and making basketball even bigger
🏀Online shop selling merchandice
🏀Launch of an Elite Basketball Diploma at Portsmouth College

🎉 Celebrating 1 Amazing Year of Supporting Children & Families! 🎉

The Southsea OT has hit a huge milestone and we're so proud of everything we've achieved in our first year! Here are some of our highlights:

✨ Completed 48 personalised OT assessments (and many more booked for 2025!)
✨ Ongoing intervention sessions with lots of incredible young people
✨ Launched and developed our *Rebound & Regulate (SEND)* Basketball Sessions in collaboration with
✨ Partnered with Portsmouth City Council, Hampshire County Council, HIOW ICB & other local authorities
✨ Became a Certified Special Yoga Practitioner 🧘‍♀️
✨ Delivered 3 workshops: Screen Smart Kids, Screen Smart Parents, & Sensory Solutions

💙🏀 SEN SESSIONS 🏀💙

Our second half term of SEN sessions started again this Monday - we couldn’t be prouder of this group 💙 it was great to hear what everyone had been up to during half term 👍🏼

We have adapted our approach and are now able to be even more targeted to the differing needs of the group 🏀

Our Friday sessions start on 15th November and have 3 spaces remaining. If you (or anyone you know) are interested, please reach out to either Chris or Laura who will be happy to help with any questions.

As the Basketball England Southern Region Community Club of The Year, we take our role very seriously to provide basketball for all 💙

Last night we delivered our SENSORY SOLUTIONS WORKSHOP to The Play Academy Day Nursery. It was a real pleasure to present to a group so keen to learn more about supporting little ones with sensory processing challenges.

As a setting we pride ourselves on developing our staffs professional development ensuring they have the knowledge and expertise to guide and support children.

Each month our setting meets to complete training and this week we welcomed Laura an Occupational Therapist.

A big Thank you to Laura The Southsea OT for putting on a fantastic sensory solutions workshop for the team this evening, equipping them with the skills to further support children with sensory difficulties. Lots of insightful information to take away and put into practice.

Following the success of our 'Sensory Solutions' workshop, The Southsea OT is back with 'Sensory Solutions: Christmas Special!!'

As the festive season approaches, we know that Christmas can be a stressful time for families with children who have additional needs. The sensory overload from bright lights, loud sounds, and crowded gatherings can lead to anxiety and overwhelm. We’re excited to invite you to a Christmas-themed workshop designed to equip you with simple strategies to make the holiday season more enjoyable for your child—and for you!

🏀 SEND BASKETBALL FROM 9th SEPTEMBER

We are delighted to have teamed up with Portsmouth Force Basletball Team to deliver a 6-week ‘Rebound and Regulate’ workshop aimed at children who find community sports sessions difficult to participate in due to:

🏀 sensory sensitivities
🏀 coordination difficulties
🏀 anxiety
🏀 reduced confidence
🏀 difficulty following instructions
🏀 struggle to focus

Embracing the therapeutic value of basketball, the workshop will:

- Promote sensory and emotional regulation
- Support development of strength and coordination
- Encourage confidence building and teamwork
- Maximise participation and fun
