A lot of people often very kindly acknowledge our work with various groups with disabilities and additional needs, and the truth is we’ve just always thoroughly enjoyed doing it and look forward to doing it for years to come.
Myself and my brother Raj in the community first started working with adults and young people with disabilities during our Social Work degrees (a fair few years ago now 😅). We got a huge amount out of it and loved meeting different people in the community from various backgrounds. We went on to run our own Disability Sports Club for over five years which sadly ended due to the Covid period. With one door closing another door opened though as we launched the Quality Inclusive Wrestling Federation- a wrestling session for those with additional needs and their friends and family. We have been thoroughly enjoying combining our two passions of wrestling and working with people with additional needs, and are really proud of what the group have been achieving 🏆
In what is becoming somewhat of a yearly tradition now, Raj and myself were asked by Enable Ability to conduct our Olympic style Disability Sports competition session this week! We have done this competition with them a fair few years now and like to call it the ENABLE ABILITY GAMES! The participants were absolutely brilliant and really got into the spirit of it, and the first pic below shows the teams with their gold, silver, and bronze medals. The second pic is of us and the staff who work with this teenage group, and the work they do and the rapport they have with the young people is beyond inspiring. A big shout out to Lauren, Dan, Jenny and also to James who organised the event, and all the other people doing such phenomenal work in the community ❤️
