Migraines and Headaches 😣

Did you know acupuncture can help with headaches and migraines.

Laura’s migraines have been creeping back in lately so we keep these at bay with regular needling sessions. They may look strange but these thin needles are generally pain free and help to reduce stress which is a common trigger for headaches.

ā€œThere is some evidence to show that acupuncture can help prevent migraine attacks. It’s been shown to reduce how many migraine days people get in clinical trials. In some people, it may work as well as preventive medicines for migraine, but with fewer side effects.
There is more evidence for acupuncture being helpful in episodic migraine than chronic migraine. Chronic migraine is when you have 15 or more headache days a month.
As well as a possible direct effect on migraine, some people may find acupuncture indirectly helps with their migraine too. Acupuncture may help you to relax or feel less stressed. As stress is a common trigger for migraine, this may then help to reduce triggers for an attack.ā€œ - The Migraine Trust

Hey,
Happy Sunday šŸ–¤

Quite a lot has changed over the past year so I thought I’d pop a little post up to give you an update.

Last August I moved from Nuffield Health to work with Up and Running from the Mountbatten Centre before my back surgery.
I am properly back to work now and back operating from a room there. I have been slowly increasing my hours around other work to not put too much pressure on my back, which has been going well so far šŸ¤ž

My hours at the moment are as follows:

Monday 9am - 12.30pm
Tuesday 1pm - 7.30pm
Thursday 1pm - 6pm
Friday 1pm - 6pm

Monday morning is my latest addition so hopefully this gives a morning option and if all goes well I’m considering opening a Saturday if there would be enough interest in that? So shout up if this is something that would work for you.

Before all this I had also completed a number of courses that added to what I offer and didn’t really get round to promoting these so here’s a little update in regards to what’s on offer and the ways I can help you. I’ll provide more info on these soon.

Long post alert šŸ””

I’ve been out of action for almost a year. I got a sudden acute pancreatitis in November last year and had emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder. Cannot explain how painful pancreatitis is!

After some recovery I made it back to work for a week and then injured my back and was back in hospital. I’ve had plenty of disc issues in the past but this one was different. I was in so much pain and lost all the feeling down my right leg. I couldn’t walk and needed help to wash and eat and generally function at all. It took a while to get enough painkillers to manage things. I had an MRI that showed a 7mm protruded disc that was compressing my nerve, eek. At least the pain made sense. In March I had discectomy surgery. Best decision in my case, never been an advocate for it but I had run out of luck this time and needed patching up. 🩹

Recovery was a little up and down but I’m doing well now. Insert here a mixture of stressful life events and personal issues and the sum is probably one of the worst years of my life.

However we move onwards and upwards!

I’m back now part time at (who have been supporting me the whole way!)

I’m slowly getting in touch with everyone I had to cancel but please do drop me a message on here if you’d like to book in. My work phone seemed to break at the same time as me so I’m really sorry if you messaged and I didn’t get back to you. I was on too many drugs to work out if and when to fix it 😊

Thank you to too many people to mention for help and support and love and check ins. There was time I thought I might not get back to massage again but I’m here! šŸ¤—

My Story

About Me

After suffering with lower back problems for many years and receiving various treatments, I have seen first hand the benefits of soft tissue therapy and regular stretching. It’s this experience that gave me a desire to help other people in the way that I have been supported through periods of recovery.

I became a qualified Sports Massage Therapist in 2018 after obtaining my diploma in Sports Massage Therapy which covered principles of Health and Fitness, Anatomy and Physiology, Soft tissue dysfunction and Sports massage treatments.
