Retirement notice - Dr Nick O'Rourke

After an exceptional 29 years as a GP Partner at The Drayton Surgery and having first joined us in 1995 as a GP trainee, Dr Nick O’Rourke will be retiring at the end of March 2026.

Dr O’Rourke has been an integral part of the practice for more than three decades. His dedication, compassionate approach, and unwavering commitment to patient care have made a profound and lasting impact on our community.

Many of our patients and their families have benefited from his expertise, continuity, and kindness throughout the years.

We are immensely grateful for everything Dr O’Rourke has contributed to The Drayton Surgery. He will be greatly missed by both patients and colleagues.

If you would like to share messages of thanks or good luck wishes for Dr O’Rourke, these can be emailed to:

Thank you to everyone who attended their appointment for vaccination today.

We vaccinated an incredible 1,239 people! Sadly, we had 206 DNA's - people who had an appointment but didn't attend for it and didn't cancel it.

As ever, a big thank you to all the staff members who have given up their Saturday morning to ensure our community is kept safe.

🎉 Today is the first day of our adult flu clinics for 2025! 💉
If you're attending, please be aware there may be a short wait — but our team will keep things moving quickly and efficiently. ⏱️😊

📍 Your allocated time is your arrival time, not a fixed appointment. Arriving early may lead to unnecessary queues, so please come at your scheduled time to help us keep everything running smoothly.

We're looking forward to seeing you and helping keep our community protected this flu season! 🧡

💗🌅 Organ Donation Week – 22nd to 28th September 🌅💗

Let’s turn the skies pink to honour those who sadly died waiting for a transplant. 💔
Every day, someone loses their life while waiting for an organ. Yet most of us would accept a transplant if we needed one. 🙏 It takes just 2 minutes to confirm your decision on the NHS Organ Donor Register. ⏱️✅

💡 Did you know? One donor can save or transform up to 9 lives! 🫀🫁🧠
By saying YES to organ donation, you could give someone a second chance at life. 🌈💞
All adults in England are now considered to have agreed to donate unless they’ve opted out or are in an excluded group. It’s never been easier to show your support — just update your preferences in the NHS App 📲

Let’s make a difference. Let’s turn the sky pink. 💗🌌

For this year's Organ Donation Week we want as many local landmarks and buildings across the country as possible to turn pink, to encourage people to confirm their support for organ donation by adding their name and decision to the NHS Organ Donor Register.

🧠💬 Youth Mental Health Day – 19th September 💬🧠

Did you know that 1 in 5 young people aged 8 to 25 are living with a mental health disorder? 😟 Yet, only 40% are able to access the support they need. 💔

This year’s theme is 🤝 — because sometimes, the most powerful help comes from each other. 💬✨

Research shows that peer support can reduce anxiety and depression in young people. When they share their own coping strategies, it not only empowers them but also gives others practical, relatable tools to face their own challenges. 💪💚

Let’s break the stigma. Let’s talk. Let’s support. 💬🫂

Join us on 19th September: this year’s YMHD theme, Share Support, encourages us all to connect, share, and access clinically-informed mental health resources.
