The Vagus nerve is the regulator for your bodies stress response and is what keeps you in “fight or flight” mode or “rest and digest”

By stimulating it we can:
Slow down heart rate
Lower blood pressure
Promote a sense of calm
Help reduce inflammation

Your Brain runs either
Delta (deep sleep, body repair, hormone release)
Theta (deep relaxation, meditation, light sleep)
Alpha (calm, focused, relaxed but awake)
Gamma (high level processing, peak concentration)
Beta (alert, focus, thinking)

We spend most of our day in the Beta state but too much can lead to stress, anxiety, overthinking.
So by running the machine at an Alpha wave length (8-13Hz) we can help can the person down and bring them in to a more relaxed state.

Manipulations, cracks, thrusts, whatever you want to call it is all about the chemical response from the brain and not so much the “crack” itself.

This releases natural pain killers and relaxation chemicals, which is why you often feel better straight away.

Only issue is is short lived, but it does give us a window to to a few exercises to help you move within that new space created, which in turn will help the body keep and feel comfortable with the new movement.

An other season done and dusted.

Hell of a rollercoaster but loved it.

Played 6 different positions across 2 teams, captained the 2s, one injury, one concussion, a couple of tries, some horrendous performances, some pretty decent performances, 2 bus trips, a few new mates, a few arguments and to top it all off, getting promoted back in to Q2 yesterday.

Time now to enjoy a break from rugby but start building for next season.

is where it’s at.

This is to just give you an idea of what treatment looks like.

Usually a combination of hands on work, Microcurrent therapy, manipulations and breathwork.

And then always followed up with some exercises to get muscles working the way they should be and how we want them to be.

I’ll throw up some reels this week on why I use certain techniques.

Any questions shoot me a message.

With the way life is now we are constantly surrounded by input.

Doom scrolling, tv, news, reading. Even when we take a break from these it’s to move, workout, breathwork etc.

So for ages I wanted to try just doing absolutely nothing for an hour, be bored again. Even tried to think as little as possible as usually I’m thinking about kids, business, clients, what needs done.

Took the clock off the wall and just set a timer on my phone so I had no idea how far a long the hour was. Time actually went a lot quicker than I thought.

Gonna try do this once a week, but I’ll try and do it outside with a decent view. We all say we are so busy but 100% anyone could find an hour at some point to just be.

Give it a try and see how you get on.

Just a quick one to show how tension anywhere in the body can have an effect on somewhere else.

The lats is always a good one to highlight this as if you look at them they come down and attach on to the spine and hips.

Using the machine we can pull all the tension out of the body, it can feel strange to begin with but once you get used to it it can be really relaxing and is completely pain free.

Same as everything in life, for every argument for something, there is an argument against it.

Posture is a big one on this, my personal opinion is that no posture doesn’t mean everything but you should be able to move freely in to what we see as better posture.

If the body is limited in one position then it will also be limited elsewhere.

Posture isn’t everything but people who are more confident, outgoing, healthy ect, do tend to have “better” posture than others.

Hate the whole this is the best exercise you’re not doing etc.

But if you work with me you will probably have done this.

I find it super low risk, very easy to set up at home and it goes a long way to help feel the hips again before moving on to other exercises.

Can help with, knees, low back, hips, groins.

Should really do this stuff on a Sunday, but for me Sundays are about doing as little as possible.

Plus I’m fortunate enough to have a little time on Monday mornings to get some light movement in so Mondays it is.

Just get the body moving, feel better and the park it. Means when I come to do a workout in the evening my body feels a lot more “ready” and less like a brick.

An hour long workout to try and mitigate sitting on your ass for 16 hours a day probably isn’t going to be enough.

I usually try and grab 5 minutes in the morning to do a little bit just to get the body feeling lighter.

Not looking to make any changes in tissue here, just a few movements that feel good and it changes everyday.

Outside of that get your strength work in, go for a walk, play, do some gardening. Just move more and your body won’t feel like a brick 24/7.

Every surgery no matter how good the surgeon is will end up with scar tissue in and around the area.

With this one there’s actually more scarring in the knee from the tendon graft. By using the machines we can break down all the external and internal scarring and help the knee move and slide a lot smoother.

This in turn will help make rehab easier and speed up recovery time.

Bear in mind this does not take away from a serious strength and rehab program that is needed after something like this. Simply just a very good added extra to help you a long the way and speed things up in a safe manner.

Ps. A few too many knocks to the nose this year has left me sounding like Lois Griffin.
