A few ideas:
• Move small tables or stools out of walkways
• Add a lamp or brighter bulb where needed
• Keep favourite items within easy reach

These small changes can help someone move around with more confidence at home.

If you are visiting an older loved one, notice whether the main rooms feel warm, if they have layers of clothing to hand and if hot drinks are easy to make.

Encourage them to:
• Heat the room they use most
• Keep slippers with good grip by the bed or chair
• Have a blanket nearby for extra warmth

If you are worried, speak to their GP or local support services for advice.
