🗣️ Residents’ Meeting: Voices That Shape Our Home

This Wednesday afternoon, we held a well-attended residents’ meeting, giving our wonderful residents the opportunity to share their thoughts, feedback, and suggestions about life at Cooper’s Croft. It was inspiring to hear both compliments about the past month’s activities and constructive ideas for ways we can continue to make every day engaging and meaningful.

Residents were invited to suggest new activities, films, and discussion topics, helping us keep our home vibrant, inclusive, and full of variety. These meetings are a vital part of our person-centred approach, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard and empowering residents to actively shape their experience. We are so grateful for their input and look forward to bringing their ideas to life in the weeks ahead.

🎉 Celebrating The Last of Our February Birthdays!

This month, we were delighted to celebrate two very special birthdays on Clover, as our residents Linda and Jack marked the final birthdays of a busy February. Both enjoyed personalised celebrations with our team and fellow residents, sharing laughter, smiles, and joyful moments together.

Linda went out with her family to a local pub for a lovely meal, creating cherished memories, while Jack enjoyed a private dining experience in our pantry with his family, making his day truly special and meaningful. The happiness on their faces was clear to see and reflected just how important these celebrations are to our residents’ wellbeing.

We are proud to provide person-centred, meaningful experiences that bring residents, families, and staff together to celebrate life’s milestones in ways that matter most.

Wings, Wheels & Wonderful Memories ✈️🍰

What a fantastic day out for Nancy and Barry as they enjoyed a trip to the incredible de Havilland Aircraft Museum! Accompanied by Mandy and Moza, they explored the fascinating aircraft displays, shared stories, and admired the engineering brilliance on show.

There were plenty of smiles (and a few nostalgic moments!) along the way. Of course, no outing is complete without coffee and cake, which went down a treat before heading back home in good time for lunch. A truly uplifting morning filled with fresh air, friendship and happy memories.

Creative Moments at Clover Lounge 🎨

We’ve had the most wonderful afternoon in Clover Lounge at Cooperscroft Care Home, thanks to a fantastic session led by Cuffley Art Society - who come on the last Thursday of every month for our residents and the home.

There was laughter, colour, creativity and plenty of proud smiles as our residents explored their artistic sides. It’s amazing how art brings everyone together, sparking conversation and happy memories.

A truly heart-warming time shared by all – we can’t wait for the next visit!

❤️ A Little Belated Valentine’s Love ❤️

We may be a few days late, but the love shared at Cooperscroft Care Home this Valentine’s Day was too special not to mention!

Our wonderful wellbeing team – Anika, Cherelle and Moza – hand-delivered beautiful roses to each resident, filling the home with smiles and happiness. 🌹

We were also serenaded into the day by much-loved Italian tenor Yuri Sabatini, a firm favourite among our residents. His beautiful morning performance set the perfect tone for a day full of warmth and joy.

With heartfelt visits from loved ones and special moments shared throughout the home, it truly was a celebration of love and togetherness.

🐰 Hoppy Days at Cooperscroft! 🐰

We were so pleased to welcome Xena from Performing Pets back to Cooperscroft Care Home this week for another heart-warming visit.

This time, she brought three adorable 10-week-old rabbits for our residents to hold and cuddle. Named Tom, Dick and Harry, they certainly caused plenty of laughter and a few cheeky jokes around the home!

The visit sparked fond memories for many residents, with stories shared about childhood pets and family life. The gentle cuddles created a calm, happy atmosphere, and we captured some beautiful photographs to treasure and share with families.

A huge thank you to Performing Pets for keeping each visit fresh and special. We’re already looking forward to seeing them again on 16th April! 💛

What a wonderfully busy week of celebrations here at Cooperscroft Care Home! 🎉🎂

On the 18th, we had not one but two special birthdays to celebrate on Lavender – happy birthday to Jean and Peter! Peter marked his day in the best possible way, heading out with his family to enjoy his favourite meal, a delicious steak and kidney pudding. Jean was surrounded by love as family and friends visited throughout the day, making it a truly joyful and memorable occasion.

Then on the 20th, we celebrated Sue’s birthday. She was sweetly serenaded in her room during the late afternoon before supper – a moment that brought plenty of smiles. Her day was made even more special with visits from close friends, along with thoughtful cards, calls and gifts from family and loved ones.

Here at Cooperscroft, we cherish celebrating the individuality of each resident. We wish Jean, Peter and Sue the happiest year ahead and many more birthdays to come! 💐

A special mention goes out to Jean's close friend, Cathy, who organised a number of Jean's former neighbours to come celebrate in our home. A gesture that will certainly live long in the memory of our Jean. Thank you, Cathy!

A Slice of Happiness at Baking Club 🥕🍰

We had a wonderful Baking Club session today up on Lavender, bringing residents together from all floors to share a much-loved common interest — baking. It was lovely to see residents mix, chat, and connect over something so familiar and meaningful.

Yesterday was World Carrot Cake Day (3rd February), so today our lovely ladies decided to celebrate by making a delicious carrot cake together. Baking provides fantastic mental stimulation, routine, and a sense of purpose, allowing residents to enjoy an activity many have done throughout their lives.

The best part? Sitting around the table afterwards, tasting the fruits of their labour and sharing plenty of smiles.

AYLA Making a REAL Difference In Our Home💬✨

Our AYLA (CBT) sessions are going from strength to strength. We began with a group of seven residents and are now over halfway through our first seven-week programme, running every Monday and Wednesday.

Residents have shared that they feel more alert, more confident, and more motivated to join other activities, with particular benefits seen for those settling into the home or experiencing anxiety or distress.

Each session is individual, engaging, and different from the last, and residents now really look forward to their Monday and Wednesday at 11am.

We’re excited to continue with a new group once this programme ends, with the aim of making AYLA available to everyone in the home.

Moving Well, Feeling Well 💪✨

We’re proud of the high-quality physical activities and stimulation available to our residents.
Our physiotherapist Daniela visits the home on a fortnightly basis and has built a fantastic rapport with residents.

Her warm, engaging, and truly person-centred approach has been especially valuable for residents on our dementia floor, as well as for new residents settling into life in our residential setting.

In between Daniela’s visits, our dedicated Wellbeing Team continues to deliver engaging chair-based activities, Oomph exercises, and light exercise sessions, helping residents stay active, confident, and involved.

Here at Cooperscroft we truly value each resident and believe in the old adage about using it and losing it. The photos attached are from recent physical activity sessions 📸😊

We had a fantastic Burns Night celebration at Cooperscroft, celebrating a little early on Friday 23rd January, and what a wonderful afternoon it was! 🥃🎶

Residents, family members, and our team all came together to enjoy a truly special event filled with music, culture, and great company. We were delighted to welcome the Royal National Scottish Dancers, whose performances were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, bringing energy and tradition into the home.

We were also treated to a beautiful bagpipe solo by George Carney, which added a very special atmosphere to the afternoon. George made the celebration even more memorable by playing Happy Birthday for NJ, who was celebrating her birthday on the same day — a really touching moment that put smiles on so many faces. 🎂💙

It was a joyful, memorable day for all involved and a celebration we will treasure.

We will be posting some more highlights from the past month in the coming days as we welcome in February!
