A client said this to me in a consultation yesterday.

She told me she’d expected a lot of head tilting, lots of sympathy and someone to sit with her in everything that’s gone wrong…

But instead, she found the approach really refreshing.

Now don’t get me wrong…I am empathetic.
I hear some incredibly difficult, heartbreaking things and of course I meet that with kindness and understanding.

But I’m not here to keep you stuck there.

I’m not the therapist who just nods along and says ā€œpoor youā€ session after session.

I’m solution focused.
Direct.
Pretty straight talking.

Because therapy isn’t about going over the problem again and again…

It’s about helping you move forward.

Seeing things differently.
Building momentum.
Creating real, lasting change.

And for so many people, that shift is exactly what they’ve been missing.

Some days I just sit back and think… I genuinely love what I do šŸ’š.

This morning alone has been such a reminder of the variety and privilege that comes with this job.

A long term client who I’ve seen for 40+ sessions where it’s not just about ā€œtherapyā€ anymore, it’s about connection, check-ins, reflecting on how far they’ve come and continuing to move forward.

Then a 13-year-old boy in his first session, building that rapport, helping him see things from a different perspective and watching those little shifts already starting.

And then a consultation with an older lady navigating overwhelm and low motivation, carrying so much life experience and difficult circumstances… and just needing someone to really listen and help her find a way forward.

Three completely different people.
Three completely different stories.
All in the space of one morning.

And that’s what I love šŸ’š.

No two days are ever the same. No two clients are ever the same. But every single one of them trusts me to be part of their journey and that’s something I never take for granted šŸ’ššŸ„ŗ.

It’s not about being perfect or having all the answers… it’s about showing up, being real and helping people create change in a way that actually works for them.

Honestly… I wouldn’t swap it šŸ’š.

🐾 Slowing down with Benji.
ā˜€ļø Getting outside and into the daylight.
🧠 Focusing my brain on what’s good (even when it feels hard).
šŸ’… Taking little moments to look after me.
šŸ¤ Moving my body in a way I enjoy.
ā˜• Connection, chats, and coffee dates.
šŸ« And yes… a bit of chocolate too.

We often think it has to be a big life overhaul…
But it’s usually the simple, everyday things that make the biggest difference.

Let me tell you about Michelle…

She originally got in touch because of a snake phobia before a trip to Borneo šŸ.

But when we sat down for her consultation, it became clear it wasn’t just about snakes.

She was feeling constantly anxious.
Overthinking everything.
Struggling to sleep.
Rushing through life, putting pressure on herself to do it all.

So that’s where we started.

Over 10 sessions, she began to:
✨ Lower her stress levels.
✨ Slow things down.
✨ Put boundaries in place (with work, family… and herself).
✨ Prioritise her sleep and wellbeing.
✨ Change the way she was thinking day to day.

And then, a few weeks before her trip, we focused on the snake phobia šŸ.

Just two targeted sessions.

And she went to Borneo… calm, in control and able to get up close with snakes šŸ.

This is why we don’t just treat the symptom.

Sometimes social media can feel like a double edged sword šŸ—”ļø.

It’s helped me build my business, connect with incredible people and share ideas that hopefully help others.

But it also comes with something our brains were never designed for… instant opinions from strangers who only see a tiny snapshot of a situation.

Learning not to absorb every comment or criticism is one of the healthiest boundaries we can build online.

ā€œThat’s just how my brain works.ā€

I hear this from clients all the time when they talk about anxiety, overthinking or constant worry.

And I completely understand why people feel that way.

When your brain has been stuck in stress mode for a long time, those thought patterns start to feel automatic.

But automatic doesn’t mean permanent.

Our brains are constantly changing through something called neuroplasticity, which means the brain can build new pathways and learn new responses.

The danger of labelling yourself as ā€œjust an anxious personā€ is that it can make you feel like nothing can change.

But brains change every single day.

Sometimes they just need the right support to start learning something different.

Welcome to Songbird Hypnotherapy!

Songbird Hypnotherapy is a Solution Focused Hypnotherapy practice based in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. We are situated just off the A1 and are in easy access of towns located within Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. The practice is also in walking distance from Biggleswade train station. We are also able to work with you online if you would prefer or are not in travelling distance of the practice.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is the only hypnotherapy under scientific study, producing amazing results. It is the gold standard of hypnotherapy, focusing on the solution, not dwelling on the past. A highly effective and safe form of talking pyschotherapy combined with relaxation techniques, based entirely on neuroscience.

We specialise in supporting people suffering from a range of symptoms and helping them to get their lives back on track, finding their true selves and their own harmony in the process.
