🤩✨Wyre Update ✨🤩

It's week two of The Wildlife Trusts challenge! This week's theme is 'physical activity' and is all about moving and connecting with nature. 🚶‍♀️🌳

It gives us the perfect opportunity to make the announcement that we are running a new programme of sessions aimed at ‘getting active in nature’. 📣

This exciting programme has been made possible by funding from Sport England Movement Fund through the The National Lottery, will include a series of nature based guided walks and green practical action. 🙏

Did you know that half a million older people go at least five or six days a week without seeing or speaking to anyone at all?

But loneliness can affect people of any age. In fact, 16-29-year-olds are twice as likely as those over 70 to experience loneliness.

Could you offer companionship to those most in need in our communities? We are looking to recruit new befriending volunteers who are able and willing to support and spend time with lonely, vulnerable and isolated residents.

Our Befriending Co-ordinator, Emma, will be at Knott End Library on Thursday 12 June from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Feel free to come along, have a chat and learn more about becoming a befriending volunteer in Wyre. Let’s end loneliness together,

Find out more about our befriending programme at www.wyre.gov.uk/befriending or take a look at all our volunteering opportunities at www.wyre.gov.uk/volunteering
