I want to give you some more information about our Shiatsu Retreat happening the weekend of 27-29 September 2024 at Poulstone Court Retreat Centre. If you haven’t yet booked your place now is the time to do so.
As a post-graduate weekend the weekend offers opportunities for refinement and integration, sharing and exchanging. It’s happening at the end of September, the time between high summer and autumn. It’s a perfect time to reflect on what we need to release and bring clarity before the season changes.
“The Space within Us”
✦ It’s a gathering to explore, discuss and share together on the theme and how our own space interacts and feeds our Shiatsu as we touch the space within another being.
✦ The concept of space is already in our practice. This is a focus on developing this concept and perhaps discovering ideas from a varied perspective. I am sure we will learn so much from the experience and time together.
✦ Each of the facilitators will present and offer a practice to explore this concept for yourself with opportunity to share what you find.
✦ Poulstone Court is nestled in beautiful surroundings in Herefordshire. Let’s enjoy the space together
✦ There will be delicious vegetarian food, time for yourself and time to spend with each other
✦ Each day will include Do-In, Ki Gung, proprioceptive and embodied movement or nature walks
Here is an outline of each workshop:
Adam Hellinger:
Space is the focus of Adam’s work. Our perspective and therefore relationship to ’space’ defines our awareness, touch and therefore our interaction as both a receiver and practitioner. Adam will focus on the Japanese concept of Ma. This is the space which manifests inside a structure/boundary. He will take us through a process of exploring this in his unique style of teaching and relate what we find to our use of Hara diagnosis.
Kate Burford:
Kate will guide us in a discussion and exploration of the relationship between our own space and the field of the receiver and what happens to these fields as we move through a treatment. She will bring also her experience of Aroma Point Therapy and use essential oils on some Tsubos.
Tracy Krikler:
When we step into this space of a Shiatsu session, what are we holding and bringing with us - both as receivers and givers. What elements of our experience - our protections, our challenges, our beliefs, attitudes, emotions or habits? How do we sense, communicate and manage ourselves within this shared Ki field? Tracy will facilitate using Proprioceptive movement, Clean Language and Shin Tai technique as a medium to explore and experience these questions.

✦ Is there a chance for lift shares? Yes - we will do our best to link you up with others to try to make the journey easier for you. We can’t guarantee this but please ask if you foresee a problem with public transport.
✦ What time is arrival/ending: We arrive by 4pm Friday and end 4pm Sunday
✦ Can I still get a private room? All the private rooms have now been taken, apologies. Shared rooms are spacious and if you have a preference of who you’d like to share with please state in your application.
✦ Can I pay by instalments? Yes you can. The deposit of £100 will reserve your place. Full fees need to be paid by 1 September.
✦ Can you cater for special diets? All food is vegetarian. Special requirements will be charged at £5 extra per day. Please state in your booking form and we can confirm with the venue.
✦ Can we use this as CPD to register with my professional body? Yes. All teachers are recognised by the Shiatsu Society UK. Receipts and certificates will be issued.
