Our book club is thriving, and our latest read “Jess and Norma” has been a resounding hit! Our ladies and gentlemen are thoroughly enjoying the stories, characters and themes that resonate deeply
with their own life experiences.

As we discuss the book, we are finding ourselves reminiscing about our own about our own childhoods, sharing laughter and memories with one another. It’s wonderful to see how the book is sparking conversations and connections among our residents.

But that’s not all! We’re so taken with Norma’s chicken hotpot recipe in the book that our chef has kindly offered to whip it up for us soon. We can’t wait to taste this delicious dish and savour the flavours of nostalgia.

The book club is more than just about reading, it’s about community, connection and creating new memories together. We are grateful for the joy that “Jess and Norma” had brought to us all, and we look forward to our next meeting, onto the next chapter.

Our intergenerational ambassador Eddie has been working so hard, attending events, helping serve drinks and joining in activities. He really does put a smile on everyone’s face, so we decided to treat him to his own MMCG chocolate bar. Well done Eddie, you deserve it!

What a fantastic time we had this week coming together for our Carmel Coachella music festival, the sun was shining, and we were so delighted to be joined by so many friends and families.

Our intergenerational ambassador Eddie was on hand to help with preparing and decorating for our flower power themed event. Alongside our lifestyle coordinator, Claire and Danielle from Hope Green, helped to dress the tables and prepare the garden.

Our chef Caitlin put on a delicious BBQ with our manager Mike and Maintenance lead, Phil, helping to flip the burgers.

Our headliner of the afternoon was singer Sam Jones, who belted out some real floor fillers.

We were joined by our friends from our sister home, Hope Green, who showed up with so much zest and enthusiasm, that they wouldn’t be too out of place at Glastonbury. A special mention goes out to John, who at 100 years old danced the afternoon away with the hugest smile on his face.

It has been so wonderful to share these precious moments with the people who live with us, their friends and families and of course our staff. It was so great to see everyone working so hard to make the afternoon a success and all importantly having so much fun. Here’s to making more memories, more laughter, more music and especially more fun...

We recently celebrated Spanish culture day. Our dining room was vibrantly decorated with a Spanish themed decor and the mood was set with Spanish music. We invited our friends from our sister home, Hope Green, who came ready to mingle and party. Lunch was an assortment of delicious tapas and seafood paella. We finished the celebration with a fun armchair flamenco dance, everyone involved had such a great time. We may not have been able to go to Spain, but we certainly brought a bit of Spain into our home 🇪🇸 ❤️

It's been lovely getting to know Michael, who has just moved in with us. He has a keen interest in music and chose to listen to Pink Floyd whilst playing a game of Pop and Hop.

We had such a wonderful day celebrating the Summer Solstice.

We commenced the morning with an outdoor armchair folk dance and some garden games. Lunch was a BBQ style buffet. Then we listened to the story of Summer Solstice and shared memories of our own summers gone by.

It was wonderful to be joined by our intergenerational ambassador Eddie, he did such a fantastic job of setting up the games, inspiring people to join in, and he even got stuck in serving the buffet.

During the afternoon, we watched Alexander Ekman's contemporary ballet Midsummer. The performance explores themes around the aspect of midsummer and its traditional Swedish midsummer festival.

We were lucky enough to have a live chat with professional dancer Tianie, who is currently on tour in Germany and Seville. It was so much fun to see everyone dressing up for the occasion, including our regional manager Faye, who was a great sport dressing up as a sunflower alongside our manager Mike.

Local student photographer Jazzmin Daisy sent us some of the beautiful sunset photos she had taken around our local area. June painted her own sun set using one of her shots for inspiration.

To achieve our goal of the longest ever running activity, the people living with us were invited to stay up in our garden to watch the sunset just after 10pm. We were joined by Nala, one of our therapy dogs, and we star gazed with our new telescope, and shared a bottle of fizz whilst listening to music including "sunrise sunset" from Fiddler on the roof. It was a relaxing and uplifting moment and a wonderful experience to share. Here's to doing it all again next year!
