What a lovely idea ❤

Are you a pregnant or new mum and struggling with social isolation in this latest lockdown? Would you love to get out for a chat and cuppa with another new mum? We think we can help. Our ‘buggy buddy’ idea is something that the lovely Emily Miller and I came up with last week. If you are struggling follow our posts over the coming days and we will be trying to match mums in your area who would also love some company for a socially distanced walk. We already have a team of lovely ladies who are keen to help. Watch out for a post about the area you live and we will try to work some magic. 2020 is a tough year, but we’ve got you ❤️ (outdoor walk would be one mum meeting one other mum not group walks- ensuring we are following government guidance)

A shout out to all of the mums to be out there in this heat 🤰

Today is going to be HOT 🔥🔥🔥

If you’re pregnant and suffering in the heat, here’s some top tips to keep you cool!

☀️ stick a bowl of ice in front of a fan to create your own cheap air conditioning

☀️ get those ice lollies out of the freezer! Make your own using your favourite juices or freeze home made smoothies!

☀️ if you’re 37 weeks or over, chill raspberry leaf tea in the fridge to sip on

☀️ wear light cotton clothing, or nothing at all!

☀️ stay in the shade as much as possible

☀️ close the curtains to keep indoors cooler

☀️ keep your moisturiser and face spritz in the fridge to keep you feeling refreshed

What other tips have you used to keep cool in the scorching heat this summer?

If you’d like to know more about my classes and what I cover, check out www.better-birth.co.uk for details! I’d love to help you have a positive birth ❤️

So over the weekend and today my mind has been racing. I felt tired and just couldnt be bothered. My kids were fighting and I was losing it with them and then worrying that I am starting to shout a bit too much.

Then as all good parents do, I was worrying about them and their emotional state 😥

So today I took them out on their bikes and I was still feeling this mind racing awfulness I feel when I'm tired and feel like I have so much on my mind. The kids wanted to stop by the river so we did, they then took their shoes off and went in. In my mind I was thinking YES this is the little break I need so that I can do my exercises whilst they play and at least I will have 5 minutes!

Then my youngest called me over, he said "mammy look I've found a perfect place for us to relax, look mammy its beautiful and I've found us a special stone so that you can do your Reiki"....well that was it, I was an emotional wreck and I was immediately transported to the here and now, and it was as if a big weight just shifted from my shoulders. I sank into the earth beneath me and sat in silence and in absolute awe of my beautiful child. 🥰

He knew what to do to make me feel better and he could obviously see that I have been tired and struggling, because let's face it dont we all have those days.❤

So I sat with him and for the first time on our run/bike ride together, I noticed the beauty of where we were. I didnt think about my worries, the future or the past because none of that mattered. All that matters is that we are all trying our best, that's all we can do at this weird time ❤

How cool is it that he knows how to relax at such a young age, so I am doing something right 🥰 At least when he grows he will know how to relax, unlike his mammy who needs a push in the right direction from time to time😉

We are all doing our best just breathe ❤ Sending lots of love to those that need it right now 🥰

Look after yourself and give yourselves a break when you realise you need one 💕

Very interesting 😊

Very interesting 😊

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Did you know, since the Covid-19 lockdown began in the UK, mums and midwives across the country have seen an increase in the number of babies coming back up to their birth weight by day 5! - Something that has not been seen in decades!

It is totally normal for your baby's weight to decrease post birth, however in recent years, it's been known to take up to day 10, or longer, for babies to get back up to their birth weight. This meant, extra measures were advised if your baby's day 5 weigh-in didn’t reach the expected amount.

Interestingly, what the lockdown and self-isolation has shown us is that without a constant stream of visitors, mum and baby have had a better opportunity for uninterrupted bonding which seems to have hugely helped mums and babies to establish breastfeeding and feed for longer, helping them regain their weight far quicker!

Whilst this evidence from midwives and other professionals is only anecdotal, at this stage, we hope that, once the NHS workload has returned to normal, formal research can look into this data in greater detail as this could have a huge impact on how women and their partners prepare for bringing home their baby and breastfeeding.

Remember pregnant ladies...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When this is all over (and it will be!), you will be the women who were pregnant/gave birth during a global pandemic. You're the ones who faced the unthinkable and soldiered on because you had to. If you can go through this, you can go through anything.

You’ve got this! Super Mum! ❤️

⛔Warning Trigger Alert⛔

When I first fell pregnant I wanted to tell the world🌎 We had waited for what felt like forever for our first baby, when in reality it was not that long.

People had told me or it was commonly known that you do not tell anyone you are pregnant until you are 12 weeks. This seemed alien👽 to me. I mean what if I lost my baby? I had still been pregnant, but then no one would know, and I would have to act like nothing ever happened to me 😥 or worse, that my baby didnt exist. I mean it's no ones fault if you lose a baby after all. This all felt so wrong to me.😕

Either way I was pregnant, so I told most people at 6 weeks. In my mind it didnt matter, as surely if I lost my baby I would need to seek out these people for comfort.❤

I would NEVER judge ANYONE on their choices, you can tell people from the beginning or not at all until you feel ready and that's all good. But I want to end the stigma here and now that if you lost your baby before the 12 week mark, you still had a baby, you were still pregnant! Therefore you deserve to grieve just the same as the next person who has lost ❤ and you dont have to do this on your own.

It's not easy to talk about losing a baby, but please dont keep it to yourself. ❤❤❤❤

END THE STIGMA!

Sending lots of love to all of the mothers who have had babies that are no longer with us ###

"As long as pregnancy loss remains little spoken about, the isolation, secrecy, shame and guilt of those who experience it will not ease."
