We had another lovely morning at last week’s Chatty Café in Victoria Park! ☕💬

We were delighted to welcome Esther from St Helens Adult and Community Learning, who shared information about the wide range of courses they offer. There were lots of interesting opportunities to hear about – from becoming more digitally savvy in an ever-growing digital world to courses focused on mental health and wellbeing.

Alongside the usual tea and friendly chat, we also tackled a tricky Easter quiz and enjoyed a book swap 📚🐣

✨ Celebrating Women at Willowbrook Hospice – Give to Gain ✨

As comes to a close, we reflect on this year’s theme from International Women's Day - Give to Gain - and the incredible women who make Willowbrook Hospice the compassionate, thriving place it is. 💜

From clinical care and fundraising to gardening and administration, the women of Willowbrook give their expertise, time, and heart every day. In return, they gain the satisfaction of making a real difference to patients, families, and our wider community.

We’re proud that women make up 78% of our staff, with men representing 22%, highlighting the vital contribution of women at every level of our hospice.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate not just our staff, but the spirit of giving and supporting one another - because when women give, we all gain.

"On International Women’s Day, I think about the strength and kindness that so many women show in everyday life. As a nurse at Willowbrook Hospice, I often see how women support those around them as mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, and caregivers. It’s a gentle reminder of the important role we play in holding families and communities together."

Continuing our celebration of inspiring women at Willowbrook Hospice, we will now shine the spotlight on Becky, one of Willowbrook's Gardeners.

Reflecting the theme from International Women's Day - Give to Gain - Becky shares:

"I give by sharing my horticultural knowledge with our patient rewilding group, helping others connect with nature and discover the joy of gardening. What I gain is the opportunity to meet such lovely people - and a real sense of happiness when I see them enjoying our sessions."

Becky’s dedication helps maintain our award-winning hospice gardens, creating peaceful, restorative spaces for patients, families, and staff alike.
