🩺 We provide expert care for autoimmune hepatitis and a wide range of other liver-related conditions.

What is Autoimmune Hepatitis?

It is a liver disease that happens when the body's immune system attacks the liver.

Commons symptoms include:

🔹 Fatigue
🔹 Stomach discomfort
🔹 Yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes
🔹 Skin rash
🔹 Joint pain

Experts have identified two main forms of autoimmune hepatitis:

▫️ Type 1️⃣ - this is the most common type of the disease. About half the people with this autoimmune hepatitis have other autoimmune disorders, such as coeliac disease, rheumatoid arthritis or ulcerative colitis.

▫️ Type 2️⃣ - although adults can develop type 2 autoimmune hepatitis, it's most common in children and young people. Other autoimmune diseases may accompany this type of autoimmune hepatitis.

The exact cause of the condition is unclear, however genetic and environmental factors appear to interact over time to trigger the disease.
