Things aren’t always what they seem.
In this example, we see that a pain felt in the centre of the buttock, often diagnosed as sciatica, may in fact be caused by the gluteal nerve becoming entrapped.
In both cases bowen work can be used to relieve tension through the gluteal region which in turn takes the pressure of the entrapped nerve.
Are you experiencing nerve pain in the center portion of the glute? Sciatic nerve, right? Not necessarily. The superior gluteal nerve can get entrapped between the posterior portions of the glute medius and glute minimus and give you localized nerve pain right around that area. This is an especially common problem among runners. Pigeon pose, the 90/90 stretch, and foam rolling the hip rotators can help. Here's a video for rolling out the hip rotators. This isn't a hip rotator problem, but the position of the stretches also gets the relevant area. https://bdme.ch/7o5n
