Battling the flu? 🤧 Here are some top tips from NHS inform to help you feel better and stop the flu from spreading:

TREATING FLU

🔹 Rest and Sleep: Give your body the time it needs to recover.
🔹 Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.
🔹 Medication: Take paracetamol or ibuprofen to reduce fever and ease aches and pains.

The symptoms of flu usually develop 1 to 3 days after becoming infected, and most people will feel better within a week.

PREVENTING THE SPREAD

🔹 Good Hygiene: Wash your hands often with warm water and soap.
🔹 Cover Up: Use a tissue or your elbow to cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze.
🔹 Get Rid: Bin used tissues as soon as possible.
🔹 Stay Home: If you have a high temperature or feel unwell, stay at home to avoid spreading the flu to others.
🔹 Clean Surfaces: regularly disinfect places like your computer keyboard, telephone and door handles.

Remember flu is spread by germs from coughs and sneezes, which can live on hands and surfaces for 24 hours. Follow our hygiene tips above to prevent the virus from spreading further!

It’s Atrial Fibrillation Week ❤️

❔What is Atrial Fibrillation (AF)?

For your heart to beat properly, the four chambers of your heart must contract regularly in the right order. This is your heartbeat. 🫀

Sometimes something goes wrong, and your heart can end up beating out of order. This is called an arrhythmia.

The most common type of arrhythmia is atrial fibrillation (AF), where your heartbeat is irregular and can beat very fast at odd times.

Learn more about AF, common symptoms, how it is diagnosed and how to manage the condition in our essential guide 👉 https://ow.ly/iUhx50XtXuw

📞 If you’re living with AF and are in need of support, contact our Advice Line on freephone 0808 801 0899, email adviceline@chss.org.uk or text ADVICE to 66777.

**PROTECTED LEARNING**

The practice takes part in a number of Protected Learning Time (PLT) events throughout the year. This dedicated time allows the practice the opportunity to close for the afternoon to carry out essential staff training and address learning and professional development needs for the whole practice team. Protected Learning Time also allows us as a practice to improve on our service delivery and ensure we are providing a high standard of care to our patient population.

We would like to advise you that the practice will be closed for a PLT event on the following date

Thursday 27th November from 1pm-5.30pm

Between the hours of 1pm-5.30pm on this day, if you require urgent medical attention which cannot wait until the following day to be seen by your GP, please telephone the Ayrshire Urgent Care Service on 01563 826930 and a member of staff will be able to assist you with your enquiry. The Ayrshire Urgent Care Service will provide a clinical assessment where required and if you require to be seen by a GP within these hours, your GP Practice will contact you directly.
