IMPORTANT PATIENT NOTICE

**IMPORTANT PATIENT NOTICE**

We would like to inform you that on:

Friday, 27th February 2026

the practice will be operating a reduced, emergency only service. This is due to an essential server upgrade being carried out by the Health Board to improve the reliability and performance of our digital patient system. These upgrades are important for enhancing the service we provide to you.

During this time, there will be some temporary changes to our usual operations:

• No advance appointment bookings will be available. We will only be able to see same day emergencies which cannot wait.
• Access to computerised records and information will be limited.
• Repeat prescriptions cannot be issued on this date. Please ensure any prescriptions are requested before or after this date.

Our team will still be available to support you and urgent, essential care will continue to be provided. If you require urgent medical attention or advice on this date, please contact the practice as you normally would.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this essential work takes place. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your continued support.

**PROTECTED LEARNING**

The practice takes part in a number of Protected Learning Time (PLT) events throughout the year. This dedicated time allows the practice the opportunity to close for the afternoon to carry out essential staff training and address learning and professional development needs for the whole practice team. Protected Learning Time also allows us as a practice to improve on our service delivery and ensure we are providing a high standard of care to our patient population.

We would like to advise you that the practice will be closed for a PLT event on the following date

Wednesday 18th February 1pm-3.15pm

Between the hours of 1pm-3.15pm on this day, if you require urgent medical attention which cannot wait until the following day to be seen by your GP, please telephone the Ayrshire Urgent Care Service on 01563 826930 and a member of staff will be able to assist you with your enquiry. The Ayrshire Urgent Care Service will provide a clinical assessment where required and if you require to be seen by a GP within these hours, your GP Practice will contact you directly.

** Consultation Statistics**

During the month of January our Reception Team answered 10,648 calls to the Practice. Please bear with us when the phone lines are busy, particularly on a Monday morning, our Team work exceptionally hard to answer as many calls as possible each day.

Our Clinicians also carried out 3,358 face to face consultations and 1,529 telephone consultations throughout January and are dealing with multiple patient contacts through the day, both acute and routine.

Our Team work exceptionally hard to treat as many patients as possible through the most appropriate patient care pathway so this could mean it is more appropriate for you to be seen by one of our multidisciplinary team members such as our Mental Health Practitioner or our Physiotherapist amongst others.

Your local pharmacy is also the most appropriate contact for minor ailments which may be treated through the Pharmacy First Service.

Get ready for the bells 🎉🔔
Follow our tips so you and your loved ones are health-prepared to say hello to 2026.

📲 Use NHS inform symptom checkers
When you’re feeling unwell, NHS inform's symptom checkers and self‑help guides will give you fast, expert‑designed advice on what to do next and how to manage common symptoms.

💊 Check medicines and repeat prescriptions
Make sure you have enough prescribed medicines as many GPs and pharmacies will be closed over New Year. Order only what you need, and collect before holiday closures. If you run out when the GP is closed, a community pharmacist may be able to give an emergency supply.

🤧 Manage winter illnesses at home
NHS inform has practical guidance for coughs, colds, sore throats, flu, norovirus and more - including self‑care and when to seek help.

🩹 Have remedies and first aid items available at home
It’s helpful to keep over‑the‑counter remedies such as paracetamol or ibuprofen (if suitable for you), antihistamines, anti‑diarrhoeals, indigestion remedies, a mild laxative, and a basic first‑aid kit. Always follow the pack advice and don’t overstock as medicines can go out of date. If unsure, ask a pharmacist.

🤒 For minor ailments - Remember Pharmacy First
If you’ve got a minor illness, your local community pharmacy is the first place to go for advice - no appointment required. Pharmacists (and trained team members) can assess, advise and provide medicine where appropriate, and will refer you to a GP, dentist, optometrist or another service if needed.

🗓️ Know your festive opening times
GP practices and pharmacies may have different opening hours on public holidays. Check local opening times and find nearby services using Scotland’s Service Directory on NHS inform.

🚑 Know where to get the right care in the right place
Call 999 or go to A&E for emergencies that are life or limb-threatening. Otherwise, NHS inform can help you decide what to do next, including when to contact your GP or 111.
