HIP PAIN
If you have hip pain, located either over the bone on the outside of your leg or in your groin, you may have scrolled through the internet and seen videos about Bursitis, ITB issues, Gluteal tendinopathy. These diagnoses can be the source of pain, but they are often over diagnosed, or these problems are actually secondary to another issue that has caused them. As a result, you may be experiencing frustration, with no lasting improvements being made, with exercises and stretches shown on these videos.
You may also have pain in your pelvic region, which you attribute to your hip or Gluteal muscles.
A clear diagnosis has to be made by looking at all the surrounding muscles and joints. The pelvis contains the hip socket, and is attached to the spine. As a result, these joints and all the muscles in that area must work together in a balanced and mechanically ‘smooth’ and symmetrical way to avoid placing strain on joints and soft tissues.
At Ridge Physiotherapy & Pilates, I have experience in assessing the cause of these symptoms. I can guide you through a proven path of manual techniques, and a prescribed home exercise plan to rehabilitate you back to pain free movement, and improve your strength, balance and return to sport.
The service doesn’t stop there though. We look together at factors in your home, leisure and hobbies/sports that may hold the potential for re injury. From this, I devise exercises etc to off-set the impacted of strain from repeated activities or postures in work,or sport, so that you can continue to enjoy what you do, and have a good quality of life.
