Our Vision for Risborough

If elected to the Princes Risborough Town Council in May we have the following vision for the town. We want to work with colleagues on the following areas to make Risborough a better place for everyone.

1. Work with Buckinghamshire Council to ensure the promises made in the local plan are met - including the relief road, new schools, doctors surgery and open green spaces.

2. Work to improve facilities for young people in the town - including through supporting current schemes and looking to invest in new opportunities to support young people.

3. Work with local organisations to find ways to reduce the towns impact upon the environment

4. Improve how the Town Council communicates with local people on local matters - including through investing in an additional CrossTalk newsletter each year, improving social media use and increasing the use of town notice boards.

5. Continue the work of keeping the town clean and tidy - both in terms of finding ways to reduce litter in our parks and keeping the flower beds colourful and grass verges well kept

6. Continuing the work of the council investing in our High Street including through continuing the Risborough Basket scheme, running great events and increasing the footfall in the town.

Mark and Jan’s Town Council Campaign 2021

Key points;
● We firmly believe that a lot of good work has already been done by the preceding town council and we are keen to continue with these projects. Such as reducing the carbon footprint of the town, investing financially in the town, running great events and the Risborough Basket.
● Closely monitor the activity behind the town’s expansion plan. There are rumours that some of the amenities offered in the plan are being removed such as schools and surgeries. We are keen to try and ensure that doesn’t happen. The town needs expansion to provide some housing that helps our children and families remain in the area, perhaps by prioritising some of that housing just for local people. But we also believe that this project cannot put additional pressure on the services that are already on their limit and additional amenities should be provided in any expansion plans.
● Provide the public with as much information as possible when it comes to plans and projects that will affect the town. We don’t feel that the councils in the past have been good enough at sharing this information, this needs to be done on a broader scale so that the people of Princes Risborough are better informed on various social networks and platforms.
● An expansion on the amenities provided to young people in the town, having spoken to some people in the town already this is something they would like to see. We have also seen groups of young people gathering in various places around the town, and agree that they could do with a common place to gather and socialise safely, responsibly and in the warm!
● We are also keen to continue to keep the town clean and tidy, the town’s current maintenance team do a really good job of keeping our verges parks and open spaces looking great. This needs to continue in order for these spaces to look nice and be a safe, clean place for people to use.
