Another busy Sunday! The weather may of been dull but the atmosphere inside Hutton Manor certainly wasn’t. Diane braved the rain and wind with a visit to Pudsey parish church for the morning service. The residents enjoyed a day of sports on tv, with rugby horse racing golf and finally athletics. Emma and Liz spent some one to one time watching the 100m final in her room as she wasn’t feeling up to a group activity, but welcomed the company. Alan was enjoying the rugby World Cup while June watched the horse racing one of her favourite pastimes.
After lunch it was time for knit and natter, more nattering than knitting but it was an enjoyable activity nonetheless. Moira is a chief wool detangler and helped to sort the wool into balls for her friends to knit. Followed by lattes and cappuccinos from our own Hutton manor garden cafe!

It was a mixed bag today, one minute sunshine the next torrential rain! We managed to go for a quick outing to Pudsey before the rain returned. Dennis enjoyed reminiscing as we walked through the park and discussed his favourite football team, Arsenal!
Despite the rain the residents enjoyed an afternoon with Petal. The guinea pigs bring the residents so much joy, they gently stroked her and feed her carrots, even visiting relatives couldn’t resist a cuddle!

It’s too late for Monday memories so this week we are looking back to Friday favourites!
And the time we took a group of residents on a day out to Bridlington! Taxis trains and lots of walking around but the residents never complained, infact they had smiles on their faces the whole day. We had a fantastic time, it brought back so many memories for them and made some very special new ones.

On Tuesday after a short stay in hospital Brian was back home and in need of cheering up! So off for a walk and some fresh air we went! A trip to the barbers and a lovely conversation was just the ticket.
In the afternoon some of the residents tried their hand at Chinese writing. It was very confusing but we managed to paint our initials, while Marianne painted a lovely abstract tree.

Animal therapy at Hutton Manor.
Our pet guinea pigs paid a visit to our residents yesterday. It was blossoms turn to have a cuddle and some of her favourite snacks.
Our amazing carer Gemma wasn’t too sure at first but showed the residents just how gentle Blossom is, as she nibbled on a carrot.

Today we held our first culture day, looking at different countries religions and lifestyles. As part of the activity we looked at the traditional dress music and food of Pakistan with one of our amazing carers Nisa!
Nisa brought in traditional clothing for the staff to try on as well as delicious dishes including the residents favourite biryani!
We listen to some traditional music while Nisa showed us all her best dance moves, before finally teaching us about Pakistani culture. We learnt all about her life growing up in Pakistan, her wedding and other cultural traditions. We were surprised at how similar they were to our own. Nisa was so informative and interesting, also an amazing cook! the afternoon was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Looking forward to welcoming them into the home.

Today was Pudsey’s annual scarecrow festival! Our entry “girl power” which was her majesty the Queen and the Queen of Hutton Manor, was proudly displayed at the front of the home, albeit with a bit of a lopsided head!
The town really came out in force to show their support for the event, there were some fantastic scarecrows on display. Well done to all who took part and organised the event. A big thank you to everyone who took the time to come and visit our scarecrows at the home too.

On Wednesday a group of residents made some beautiful flower arrangements to decorate the home. Flower arranging is a popular activity at the home enjoyed by many. This week Susan made a special arrangement of flowers for the dining room so all her friends could enjoy them.
Liz helped out by trimming the flowers down along with Brenda, while Irene and Kate helped to create the beautiful bouquets.
