Social media can make it feel like if we’re not lifting heavier, doing more reps or pushing longer distances, we aren’t progressing.

But sometimes, real progress comes from taking things back to basics.

I’ve been dealing with some lower back pain during my squats, so I decided to strip things back and focus on form. Lighter weights, more controlled reps, plus a few small tweaks to technique have made a HUGE difference - my back feels better, and higher reps still bring the burn 🔥

Now that the pain has settled, I can gradually build the weight back up the right way.

Loved being a part of and event last weekend ✨

Giving a lovely bunch of ladies a taste of sports massage and also getting to join in with the training sessions - I’ve definitely got some work to do before I can be considered a Pilates girlie!

✨ Anti “New Year, New You” Club ✨

The problem I have with “New Year, New You” is your body isn’t disposable, you don’t get a new one in January.

So when I see all the extreme resolutions, punishment workouts and guilt for enjoying life, it makes me sad because it’s going to take its toll on you and your body (and probably not last past February!)

Instead we should be focusing on 👇
💪 Moving because it helps you feel strong
🧠 Training smarter, not harder than your body can handle
💆‍♂️ Recovering properly & focusing on the long term

📆 You should be looking after your body all year, not just in January, because you only get one and it carries you through every season —
it deserves care, maintenance, and respect 365 days a year.

Let’s make this year about longevity, consistency, and feeling good, not burning out by February.

London Excel Hyrox 💪🏼 Client Appreciation

WHAT AN EVENT! Incredible to see all my clients hard work put into action last weekend 🙌🏼

I am beyond proud of all of them and was so happy to see them out there on race day.

They all had their own things to deal with during their training, whether it was injuries, family, work or lack of motivation, but none of them gave up and their determination was clear to see on race day.

Excited to see what’s next for them all 👀

HYROX SIM DAY ✨

Last weekends sim at was amazing!!
Seeing everyone competing whether they were first timers, prepping for a race or seasoned hyroxers was incredible!

Thank you to all the spectators who cheered them on and to all the volunteers who helped make it happen 👏🏻

So happy with how my first event went and we will definitely be doing this again so if you missed out this time, keep your eyes peeled for the next one ☺️

Sled Push is all about producing enough force to overcome resistance in the most efficient way. These 3 techniques only differ very slightly but have a big impact on efficiency.

1️⃣ Straight arms:
This technique doesn’t really have any benefits in terms of efficiency or speed. Having your body weight so far behind the sled doesn’t help when trying to produce enough force to move the sled.
👍🏼 The only positive is that some people find it helps their breathing when opening up their chest.

2️⃣ Bent Arms:
This technique is better than straight arms as it gets more of your body weight over the sled but many athletes often don’t get low enough and find it tough on their arms.
👍🏼 Athletes who lack flexibility and aren’t able to get as low may prefer this technique.

3️⃣ Forearm Push:
This technique makes the most of using your body weight to move the sled rather than just the power from your legs. It is the fastest technique when practiced.
👍🏼 This is my preferred technique that once you get the hang of, will make the sled feel much lighter!

As with most techniques, a big factor will be your personal preference so get practicing and see which one you prefer 💪🏼

Today I turned away a potential client... and I would do it again!

A 70yo man got in touch hoping to book an appointment after a friend recommended me.

We chatted for a while through his medical history and it became clear he had been struggling for a while and needed some further investigation.

However, I knew that sports massage wasn’t the right fit for him at this stage so I told him just that!

I recommended a trusted physiotherapist who I thought would be able to help.

He thanked me sincerely and said he’d reach out again in the future :)

Being honest and putting my clients’ best interests first will always be my priority and I will only treat those I am confident I can genuinely help.

So if you’re unsure if sports massage is right for you, I am always happy to have a chat to help you make a decision :)
