Sled Push is all about producing enough force to overcome resistance in the most efficient way. These 3 techniques only differ very slightly but have a big impact on efficiency.

1️⃣ Straight arms:
This technique doesn’t really have any benefits in terms of efficiency or speed. Having your body weight so far behind the sled doesn’t help when trying to produce enough force to move the sled.
👍🏼 The only positive is that some people find it helps their breathing when opening up their chest.

2️⃣ Bent Arms:
This technique is better than straight arms as it gets more of your body weight over the sled but many athletes often don’t get low enough and find it tough on their arms.
👍🏼 Athletes who lack flexibility and aren’t able to get as low may prefer this technique.

3️⃣ Forearm Push:
This technique makes the most of using your body weight to move the sled rather than just the power from your legs. It is the fastest technique when practiced.
👍🏼 This is my preferred technique that once you get the hang of, will make the sled feel much lighter!

As with most techniques, a big factor will be your personal preference so get practicing and see which one you prefer 💪🏼

Today I turned away a potential client... and I would do it again!

A 70yo man got in touch hoping to book an appointment after a friend recommended me.

We chatted for a while through his medical history and it became clear he had been struggling for a while and needed some further investigation.

However, I knew that sports massage wasn’t the right fit for him at this stage so I told him just that!

I recommended a trusted physiotherapist who I thought would be able to help.

He thanked me sincerely and said he’d reach out again in the future :)

Being honest and putting my clients’ best interests first will always be my priority and I will only treat those I am confident I can genuinely help.

So if you’re unsure if sports massage is right for you, I am always happy to have a chat to help you make a decision :)

“Not one to normally write a review however on this occasion the team here are unreal.

Danielle is so professional, she supported me through on of my biggest tests to date sporting wise and her massages and general counsel was second to none.

Always responsive, great treatment, very flexible and really really good at what she does!”

Alan took on L’Etape last year and first came to see me to help get him through his big bike challenge. We worked together throughout his training to ensure he was recovering well between rides and before he headed out to France to ensure he was race day fit!

One year on and he’s off again next week to take on this monstrous challenge next so wishing him all the best for round 2 💪🏼🚴🏼‍♂️

If you’re training for a big challenge this summer, get in touch to book in a sports massage to keep you on track with your training 🙌🏼

“After suffering two ACL injuries, I thought my training days were behind me. But then, I started working with Danielle, who completely changed the game.

With her expert sports massages and personalized PT sessions, she guided me through rehabilitation and helped get me back on track.

Now, I’m on my way to completing a marathon and tackling my first Hyrox event, all thanks to the solid training plan Danielle created for me.

Getting back to training after an injury is both mentally and physically challenging, but without her knowledge, support, and motivation, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Plus, she makes is all fun - you’ll always get a good laugh along the way. I couldn’t recommend her more!”

Phoebe has had a tough few years with injuries but she has put the hard work in and we have got her back to doing the things she enjoys!

She’s off to her first in Valencia this weekend so wishing her the best of luck, you’ve got this girl 💪🏼

If you’re injured and your outlook on your recovery is “No pain, no gain” then please give yourself a good talking to! 🙅🏼‍♀️ Pushing through pain during your injury rehab is not going to speed up your recovery and may even prolong it. Pain is our bodies warning sign telling us that something is going on and we need to pay attention to it so ignoring it or masking it may only make things worse! 👎🏼 That being said we do need to differentiate between pain and discomfort. If something feels hard and your muscles are sore after your exercises, then this is a normal part of rebuilding strength. If you aren’t feeling some soreness after exercise then the likelihood is you’re not challenging yourself enough. However, if you experience sharp pain or pain that lingers or gets worse during exercise, then this is your sign to stop, reassess what you’re doing and speak to a professional.

I’ve been working hard behind the scenes and am so excited to announce I will be running my own Hyrox-Inspired class 😆

Having fallen in love with Hyrox over the last couple of years, it’s time to put you lovely lot through your paces every Saturday morning, 9am at Springs Gym.

Last week was the first week and a huge success so make sure you book in to grab a space: https://springsgym.simplybook.me/v2/

I cannot wait to see you all in the gym 🔥

When we go skiing for 1 week a year, there’s no surprise we get tired aching muscles. So my top tip is to take a massage ball with you! You can use this to relieve tight muscles before having a good stretch out before or after a big day on the slopes 💪🏼 If you’re heading off for a ski trip this season and want to prevent the aches and pains, get in touch to find out how personal training & sports massage can get you into shape and ready to hit the slopes ☺️

Everyone loves a foam roller (I am no exception) however using it on your ITB is, in my mind, pretty pointless!

The general aims of foam rolling muscles are to reduce soreness, increase blood flow and reduce muscle tightness/increase flexibility - although this last one is a bit of a contentious subject 🤪

However, your ITB is technically fascia, not muscle, therefore foam rolling will not elicit the same response as on other areas.

For that reason, you shouldn’t foam roll your ITB because:

- It will NOT increase flexibility - fascia has a very limited ability to stretch and would require HUGE force to generate any real change 🛠️
- It bloody hurts!!! - it’s one of the most uncomfortable places to foam roll so why cause yourself more pain when there’s almost no evidence it will help! 😩
- Increasing blood flow can be achieved in other ways - cold/heat therapy is a more effective way of increasing blood flow without the agony! ❄️🔥

If you still want to use a foam roller then I would recommend targeting your glutes/TFL (front/outer hip area) instead, as these muscles insert into the ITB and you may be able to generate more meaningful results here.

And after all this, if you still just love the feeling (some may say a tad masochistic 😂), then as you were!

TOP TIP: Using a massage ball or tennis ball to target these smaller areas can be much easier than a foam roller!

Thank you Danielle”
