So this is why I love my job. Email received from a client who has recently undergone minor surgery on her leg.
"Meanwhile I'm very frustrated as' one-legged'. Good news is that my yoga balance and strength is proving invaluable in helping me to move differently Our deep breathing technique meant that the apparently 'painful needle' during anaesthesia on my tender shin was a breeze - no pain felt by me! The Dr remarked that she found patients who practiced yoga just breathed though any pain so thank you for our wonderful breathwork!"

"I loved our workshop today. Afterwards I felt about two foot longer, much lighter and could feel the space in between my joints! I particularly liked the Yoga Nidra and our visualisation centred around Spring.
Feeling very relaxed .......Thanks for making our workshops so beneficial, rewarding and special by the way you are constantly teaching us new things."

If you, or any of your household, are suffering from COVID, please practice your yoga at home (if you feel well enough) rather than join my public classes. We don't want to spread it around just before Xmas!

My yoga story

Yoga found me through my (now) husband who was practicing it to manage a back condition. I started practicing with him, initially once a week and gradually more often. This steady practice continued for maybe fifteen years. Then we had a series of deaths in the family, and suddenly my well paid city job seemed less meaningful. I gave up my job to focus on the family. After a few months of not working I sat down, and for want of a better word “meditated” on what to do next with my life. Much to my surprise the answer that came back was “Teach yoga”. I didn’t stop and think about it, I just found a teacher training course that started soon after. I chose a one year course rather than an intensive so I could really understand and practice what I was studying. Once I qualified it has been as if the universe has laid down a path for me to travel. Opportunities to teach have arisen precisely when I needed them and I now teach 12- 15 classes a week - a mix of private clients, yoga studios and gyms and community classes. I also run occasional workshops, and mentor trainee teachers. My life is totally different now, six years on, and I am different too - calmer and happier. People sometimes say how life changing yoga can be, well for me that has certainly been true. It doesn’t change in a single class, or even a dozen classes, but with consistent dedicated practice. So what are you waiting for - maybe this is the moment yoga finds you!
