Male fertility matters too.

S***m health concerns can be a significant source of stress for many men, particularly when preparing for IVF or trying to conceive.

Traditional Chinese Medicine, including acupuncture and herbal medicine, can provide effective support for male reproductive health. With a consistent treatment programme, improvements in s***m health can often be seen within a relatively short period.

🏮 Today is the Yuan Xiao Festival (Lantern Festival), marking the final day of Chinese New Year celebrations.

On this special day, families traditionally eat Tang Yuan (glutinous rice balls with sweet fillings). Their round shape symbolises family harmony, happiness, and lasting unity.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, food is not only nourishment but also a way to maintain balance. As glutinous rice can feel heavy on digestion for some, it is often enjoyed with warm tea, fragrant osmanthus (Gui Hu), and aged tangerine peel (Chen Pi).

Osmanthus and Chen Pi are especially beneficial for those experiencing Qi stagnation, helping to gently regulate circulation, ease tension, and support both digestion and emotional wellbeing.

Wishing you all happiness, harmony, and togetherness 🌕✨

Injured before a major tournament…

🏑 From the bench… back to the pitch.
Today at an important hockey tournament, one of the key players injured the area just below his kneecap during half term. He had already been assessed and advised to rest and monitor the pain.

He bravely played the first match, but the pain worsened and he had to sit out during the second game. With the team pushing to reach the semi-finals, every player mattered.

Without my treatment kit on hand, I used acupressure pitch-side to help support circulation and ease discomfort upon a request from his mum. After a few minutes, he felt comfortable enough to gently test it… and was able to continue playing.

He went on to play four matches in total, the team won three, drew one, and finished top of their group to reach the semi-finals 👏

Sometimes, the right support at the right time makes all the difference.

Stay away from pain and stiffness in Spring 🌸

It’s completely natural to want to be outdoors on bright, sunny spring days ☀️

Although it feels warm in the sun, wind speeds can still be high. It may feel surprisingly cold and chilly in the shade or when the clouds come in.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we believe that protecting the body from wind and sudden temperature changes is key to preventing pain and stiffness.

Wearing a light scarf and keeping the hips and lower back covered can help shield your body from the elements and keep you pain-free.

If you do develop pain or stiffness, come and see us. We will help you get back to doing what you enjoy most.

I had an absolutely magical experience at the Orchid Festival at Kew Gardens today, celebrating the Year of the Horse.🌸

Imagine stepping into a world bursting with colour, where an incredible array of orchids — each more stunning than the last — are beautifully arranged among vibrant traditional decorations.

Beyond the sheer beauty, what truly resonated was learning about the dedicated work of Kew’s botanists. They’re not just showcasing these exquisite flowers; they’re actively involved in conserving wild plants that form the very foundation of East Asian medical tradition. It’s a powerful reminder of the deep connection between nature’s wonders and ancient wisdom.

At Xu Clinic, we prescribe classic herbal formulas to support a wide variety of conditions, using the highest-quality herbal ingredients. Our formulas are available in convenient, ready-prepared forms. 🌿

If you’d like to discover the power of plants, talk to us. 🌺

The Orchid Festival runs until Sunday 2 March 2025.
