Enhanced eye examinations with OCT allow us to examine the deep layers of the retina and macula in 3D. These images show a normal healthy macula (top) compared to one with cystoid macula oedema, a complication of cataract surgery. In this case, the macula recovered nicely and vision returned to normal after a few weeks.

As part of our investment in our client's ocular healthcare, and continued participation in the Minor Eye Condition Service, on behalf of local GP's , we will be including digital slit-lamp image capture and video imaging when required in our eye examinations, as well as OCT 4D digital retinal scans This allows more accurate diagnosis, recording and monitoring of ongoing eye conditions, as well as being able to show clients on the monitor what we are able to view under magnification. This helps with patient understanding and compliance with treatment plans.

I am excited to announce that in a few weeks we will be able to offer our clients the new ENHANCED EYE EXAMINATION as part of our clinical services. Using our new hospital grade Topcon Maestro2 OCT 4D digital eye scanner, we will be able to examine the eye the most advanced way yet. The scan takes just seconds, yet instantly provides us with hundreds of individual images of the layers of the retina, macula, optic nerve and cornea, allowing us to identify, measure, record and compare changes to the health of the eye which was never possible before in a standard eye examination. We are always aiming to provide the best possible service for our clients, and this investment in the latest technology is part of our promise to our clients to be the best.
Cross sectional and 3D scans through the macula, allow for the early identification of changes in the eye brought about by wet and dry macula degeneration, diabetic maculopathy, macula holes, oedema and other degenerative eye conditions. Assessment of the optic nerve head and nerve fibre layer and ganglion cells, together with other diagnostic scans, provide us with never before seen changes in nerve density, the major complication and degeneration in glaucoma, one of the world's leading causes of sight loss. And the Maestro2 does even more than all that...!

Excited to have my first Spring/Summer eyewear range out today. Exclusively for my practices, and not available anywhere else. The Martyn Allen Eyewear range of spectacles and sunglasses are bold and colourful in some designs, but subtle and easily wearable in others. Here's just a small sample whilst I get some proper images done. Prices range from £25- £50 .(Sorry ,but be prepared for lots of photos of frames from me over the coming weeks 😃🤓😎)
