🌡️ Influenza Cases Rising – Please Help Us Keep Everyone Safe

We are currently seeing high levels of influenza in the community. To protect our patients and staff, Somer Valley Medical Group is following enhanced infection control measures.

If you have flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, aches, fatigue), please contact us by phone or online rather than walking in. Our team will advise you on the safest way to receive care.

If you are asked to attend the surgery, please:

Wear a face mask
Use hand sanitiser on arrival
Follow staff directions to our flu assessment area
Thank you for helping us keep the practice safe for everyone this winter.

If you have booked an appointment for a Flu and/or Covid Injection in our clinics at Somerton House this week, do not be surprised to see volunteers from The Friends of SVMG at their Raffle Table. Friends and volunteers are hoping to be present for all clinics, and hope you will stop for a chat, and maybe buy a ticket or two.

The Friends raise funds through their Christmas Raffle and 200 Club to purchase equipment for the surgery. The Friends, started as Friends of St Chad’s about 25 years ago, and have grown with the practice. Over the past 20 years they have raised over £60,000 for extra equipment for us. If you have bought a ticket and did not win, take heart from the fact that you may have contributed to the latest asthma diagnosis kit, or various Doppler equipment (leg vein health), paediatric pulse oximeters and many other items.

The Friends are also always willing to listen to feedback about your experiences with your GP Practice, and any suggestions for improvement you may have.

The Practice would like to thank the Friends for organising this fund raising, and for the health talks they put on from time to time; but most of all we all want to thank you, the patients, for your support because without that, we could be far less well equipped.
