Dr Bruce Lipton talks about this in his book ‘The biology of belief’ 💖

A Stanford University study has confirmed what philosophers and healers have long suggested: the brain doesn’t just observe—it builds reality. Researchers found that belief and expectation can alter brain activity, hormone release, and even gene expression in real time. This means our thoughts are not passive; they are constantly reshaping the body.
For instance, participants who believed they had consumed an energy drink performed with increased stamina and recovery, even though the drink was a placebo. Their brains sent signals as if the belief itself provided fuel. Another trial showed that people told “stress sharpens performance” experienced healthier heart responses compared to those who saw stress as harmful.
The implications are enormous. Repeated thoughts reinforce neural pathways, creating physical changes in immunity, healing, and even pain perception. This explains why mindfulness, affirmations, and positive psychology often lead to measurable health benefits.
By proving that mindset can reprogram biology, the study paves the way for treatments that combine medicine with mental training. It reinforces the idea that our inner dialogue is not just in the mind—it is shaping the body’s future.
