Mindful eating….
I know I’ve been absent for a while, I’m just working hard in the background on me… updates soon.
But in the meantime I just wanted to highlight mindful eating or more to the point absent eating.
My husband grabbed a twirl from the shop to share with me. I was just thinking where did I put that chocolate??
In truth I had eaten it, without noticing it, it was gone. Why? It wasn’t a memory lapse, it was eating whilst doing other things. This is a sad scenario, because I could have taken just 5 minutes to enjoy that bit of chocolate. How often do we do that in life? Miss opportunities to take some time to enjoy something.
We do this a lot with eating, a quick biscuit before the next task, but completely miss the taste, the texture and feeling that satisfaction of the food we are so lucky to have. We either forget we’ve eaten it, or grab another to compensate.
This isn’t just about the treats, but food in general. Dinners in front of the TV, eating whilst working. The list goes on.
So next time you eat today, sit down, take away the distractions and eat switched on. Don’t let it be absent mindless eating. Food is there to enjoy.
