I thoroughly enjoyed my time as both a student and a classroom assistant at the Kent Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Although not directly involved these days with the school I help train future therapists that graduate in hypnoanalysis.

The Kent Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy offers exceptional training in all aspects of hypnotherapy and is delivered by Georgina McKinnon and Emma Evans.

If this is something you are interested in learning more about click on the link below. The 2025 course starts in April.

Hypnotherapy and its benefits for YOU explained

29/06/2023

In my pursuit of understanding the intricate relationship between sugar consumption and its effects on the body, I delved into some extensive research.

Recently, I embarked on a personal mission to eliminate sugar from my diet, driven by the desire to alleviate the persistent inflammation that has plagued my back for several years.

It has been nearly a week since I initiated this dietary change, and I am pleased to express the profound improvements I have observed.

During this transformative period, I stumbled upon an interesting video that sheds light on the impact of sugar consumption. Its comprehensive insights have the potential to reshape our understanding of sugar's effects on the body. I strongly recommend watching this video with an open mind, irrespective of whether you are contemplating a similar dietary shift. You can find the video here: https://youtu.be/DnEJrgc1BCk

Hi everyone,
My brother is a very talented composer of music. Bit biased I know 🙂, but he has created music for films and TV until recently when I asked him to create some music for me to use in my therapy sessions.
If anyone is interested in checking out his music to use in your business or for some easy listening music to unwind to, you can find him here

Very interesting video from Dr Andrew Huberman I came across recently regarding alertness and a simple tool to use to enhance our alertness when fatigued. Let me know in the comments your experiences with this.

Helping at the Kent Institute of Clinical Hypnotherapy course with this year's therapists of the future.
Today we are discussing suggestion therapy and how that is applied in the therapy room.

The subject of today's post is what can hypnosis be used for?

Often, when I speak with people about the benefits of hypnotherapy, they are unaware of the wide range of issues that can be helped with this form of therapy.

I put this down to most people's perception of hypnosis i.e. when it being used for entertainment purposes.

Hypnosis in and of itself is of little value, unless its relaxation we are seeking and it does that very well.

But it is the various therapy techniques that are applied after the client is in hypnosis which address the help people need. And these techniques can take the therapist many years to learn and perfect.

Some techniques are used during waking hypnosis and some do not even require formal hypnosis. The therapist will decide the technique best suited to the client and their issue.

So what can these techniques address. In a nut shell almost any kind of neurosis. We take care to ensure that symptoms are not being caused by any medical problems.

Here is a list of some of things hypnotherapists can help you with:

Anxiety
Confidence
Phobias
Relationship's and sexual problems
Grief
Weight loss
Career issues
School issues
Focus and attention
Issues from the past
Addictions

There are many more and any professionally trained therapist would be able to advise a prospective client if they can help them.

So if you or someone you know would like to talk further about any of the above please get in touch or you can share this post with them.

The Subconscious Mind

So the subject of this post is the Subconscious Mind. This metaphor is often used as a representation of that deeper part of our mind.

This amazing part of our mind automatically regulates our breathing, blood pressure, body temperature and a myriad of other functions.

The automatic subconscious mind has one aim, which is to keep us safe and ensure we survive.

Despite the evolution of the human brain the survival instinct is still a predominant part of us.

The subconscious mind uses automatic response patterns to ensure our survival. These response patterns are often learnt in childhood when we encounter lots of new experiences and situations.

As we go through life and experience different situations and events, we store our verified behaviour patterns against them. This is so we can respond quickly to these situations if they happen again in the future.

Once a new response pattern is learned and accepted by the subconscious mind as necessary to our survival, it then becomes automatic.

These automated responses play out as future events and situations happen to us. When the automatic response happens it is instant, we are already responding before we are consciously aware of it.

Sometimes the automatic response is not right for us. It was perhaps learnt in childhood and is no longer serving us well as an adult.

This usually creates a situation where consciously we want to stop doing something that we have automatically learnt to do subconsciously.

And this is what can cause confusion and anxiety, when we get a disconnect between what the conscious part of our mind wants to happen and what we are subconsciously doing in a given situation.

Trying to resolve this using the conscious part of our mind is very difficult to do, especially if that unwanted response pattern has been compounded over many years.

This is where hypnotherapy can be very effective. When therapists use hypnosis with clients we can communicate and negotiate with the subconscious part of our minds to get the changes that we want in life to happen. But more about that in another post.

Please let me know in the comments or ask a question if there are any other topics you would like me to address.
