Craniosacral Therapy (CST) works on the deepest of all fascia (connective tissues beneath the skin).

The word cranial may suggest that it is only the head that is being treated, when in fact it works with the whole person and changes may occur in body, mind and spirit during and after the session. The principle of CST is that the cranial bones (the skull), the vertebrae (the spine) and the sacrum are all linked by an intrinsic rhythm with the ligaments, muscles and fascia that surrounds them. When this rhythm is in harmony, cerebrospinal fluid
(a fluid found in the brain and spinal cord) moves and circulates without restriction, the intervertebral and facet joints of the spine are well hydrated and the skull is in symmetry, this aids with good health of the spine and other systems throughout the body. This rhythm is known as “the breath of life”

When the ligaments, muscles and fascia of the body become imbalanced, injured or under tension, they can easily pull the cranial bones, the intervertebral and facet joints out of their natural alignment. The cranial bones can be pulled into imbalance due to the skull being slightly flexible with the tiny movement of the cranial plates in the skull. When a therapist puts their hands on you, they are using them to listen to your body in a similar way a counsellor listens to your words when you speak. Who is CST for ? People may come for Craniosacral Therapy because they have acute physical problems like headaches or bad backs or long-standing problems, both physical and emotional. Others come for on-going support with their busy lives and for help to meet life’s challenges. Because it is so gentle and non-invasive, you are fully clothed when treated , this makes Craniosacral Therapy suitable for everyone from newborns to the elderly. Mothers and babies often come for problems associated with difficult or traumatic births. Letting go of tension and fear held within the body enables both to settle into calmness. Craniosacral Therapy has been known to help:
