Winter is a season that tests our health and vitality. It’s cold and flu season, there is much less daylight and sun exposure, the weather is cold and often wet so we get out less and we are BUSY. Running around getting ready for Christmas.
Our immunity is under pressure, our stress levels can be higher and it can be a highly sensitive and emotional time for some. The heating and cold weather dehydrates us, we exercise less and generally eat and drink a lot more in December.
With this in mind why not take action. Here are some tips
❄️ Wrap up and get outside. Whatever the weather try to get out into nature for walks as often as you can. Exercise boosts your immunity and supports your mental health.
❄️ Eat healthy. Get lots of seasonal fruits and vegetables in your diet it will boost your immunity and help your energy levels. You can enjoy your mince pies and champagne if you know you’ve been eating well most of the time.
❄️ Stay hydrated. The cold weather, central heating and extra alcohol dehydrates you. Take your water hot and add slices of lemon and ginger for a immune boosting kick.
❄️ Meditate - it’s a busy time and your mind can go into overdrive which is not good for your health or mental health. Adopting a daily practice of meditation will keep you grounded.
❄️ Sleep - winter is a a great time to grab a blanket and get cosy. The dark nights make it easier to hop into bed earlier and get some much needed rest.
❄️ Make time for you and your wellness. Book a massage, some reflexology, reiki, acupuncture or a relaxing facial. Soak in the bath, get the body scrub out and fancy body cream, massage your own feet and hands (it’s amazing how much better you feel from self massage) take time to relax however that works for you.
There is only one person who can take care of your winter wellness and that’s YOU so get out a pad and pen and make yourself a winter wellness plan...I have done mine and it’s working a treat 🥰
