- The intestines act as a vital barrier in fighting off microbes entering our system, playing a pivotal role in initial encounters with viruses and bacteria. ๐ฆ
- Intestine cells can produce antiviral substances, and fascinatingly, 60-70% of our white blood cells (the defenders of our body) are housed there, springing into action when exterior aggressors are detected. ๐ช
- Consuming hard-to-digest and slowly absorbed foods, like red meat and heavy meals, or simply overeating, can disrupt the intestinal environment, thereby hampering our immune system functionality. This disruption can derail our immune defense, making it harder for our cell-soldiers to repel external attacks. ๐๐
- Persistent fatigue can also stem from suboptimal cellular function in our intestines. When our lifestyle forces our bodies to over-rely on white blood cells, our cells can wear out quickly, leading to fatigue and a weakened defense against external threats. ๐ด
