This week's theme is strengthening the gluteus medius. 🐝

DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES ONLY 6PM CLASS WILL RUN TODAY.

Following on from previous weeks focusing on hips, many people complain on a pinching in the hip, this usually comes from an overactive TFL and an under active gluteus medius. βš–οΈ

The gluteus medius helps maintain balance and proper alignment in the hips which may prevent injuries in the future (knee/ ankle sprains). Having strong glute medius muscles will improve posture and may alleviate lower back pain. πŸ“ˆ

This week's class is a slow burn πŸ”₯
This class will be good for anyone who does a lot of walking or feels a lot of pinching in the hips.

This week's theme is hips with the specific focus on the hip Abductors and Adductors. The abductor muscles are on the outer side of the hips and thighs. The adductor muscles are located on the inner side of the thighs. 🐝

β€’ Improved hip stability and balance.
β€’ Strong hip abductors and adductors reduce the likelihood of injuries, particularly in the hips, knees, and lower back.
β€’ Strong hips stabilize the pelvis, creating a knock-on effect up the spine improving posture and help alleviate back pain.
Specific benefits for each
β€’ Hip abductors: Strengthening the muscles on the outer thigh helps with walking, running, and stabilizing the pelvis.
β€’ Hip adductors: Strengthening the muscles on the inner thigh is fundamental for movements like squatting and maintaining balance.

I am suffering with pain in my tailbone so our lovely Emma will be leading our visual demonstration for this class, while I'll give verbal queues as usual. I'll also be happy to help with hands on assists to those of you happy for me to do that. πŸ‘

This will be helpful for people who spend a lot of time sitting, running, cycling, or experience lower back and knee pain.

How are hips, hamstrings, and knees connected?🧡

-The hamstrings are mainly hip extensors, meaning they help to move the leg backward away from the body.
-The hamstrings also play a role in rotating the leg at the hip and knee joints.
-The hamstrings flex the knee.

Good morning, all. 🐝

Today's focus area will be shoulders. Many of you have mentioned this is a problem area for you, and it ties in nicely with the last two weeks' focus on the spine and core.🦾

Today's class may feel a bit different and more dynamic than usual. We'll be utilizing more movements and pulses than the average yoga class. Let me know what you think of it, and if it's popular, I will incorporate it more in the future.βœ…οΈ

As usual, we'll be stretching and strengthening the shoulders, and the benefits of these exercises include: πŸ“ˆ
- Increased flexibility and motion in not only the shoulders but also the neck and spine.
- Improved strength in shoulders and arms.
- Reduced tension and pain in areas many of you have told me is currently or has been a problem.
- Lastly, enhancing posture. Many of us spend lots of time hunched; these poses not only counter this but also strengthen muscles to prevent us from hunching in the future.

SUMMER TIMETABLE β˜€οΈ 🐝
Hello everyone this week we'll be flipping to our summer timetable,
*10am for Gentle and 12noon for Chair*⏳️

This week's theme is Cooling 🧊
With the hot weather we'll slowly be working through postures and breathing (pranayama) exercises that cool the body down. 🌬
This will still use deep challenging stretches. We'll be holding poses or about 2 minutes each instead of 30 seconds (ish) πŸ•§
