Shirley Is a qualified therapeutic counsellor and member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), with a background in teaching. Throughout her career, supporting the well-being of her colleagues, pupils and carers has always been at the core of her work. Shirley is a creative practitioner, who is able to draw from a variety of modalities, to ensure that she provides support that is tailored closely to the client’s needs and feels right for them. She believes that the client is the expert on themselves and that with the right support they will find a positive way forward. This support entails offering a safe, confidential space, without judgement and with full positive regard and warmth. Shirley believes that being invited to step into a client’s world, alongside them, during sessions, and helping them to navigate difficult times or situations, is both a privilege and a responsibility that she values greatly. Shirley is able to support clients with a wide range of issues, including bereavement, loss, anxiety, addictions, trauma and many everyday difficulties that life presents us with. She is currently an approved therapist with Anxiety UK. Shirley is keen to explore holistic therapies and work in a holistic manner when this suits the client best. She is qualified in teaching Mindfulness and finds that the breath work taken from this can provide instant support to a client who may feel overwhelmed in the moment. Shirley has experience of supporting adults, young people, and children in a variety of settings, including schools, clinics and in their own homes. She also works online and via telephone. Her experience also encompasses work with children and adults on the Autistic spectrum, with visual impairments and other additional needs. Shirley was recently described as a warm, gentle person, who prizes her clients and shows that they matter.

The weight of grief can render us numb, angry, sad, amongst a whole array # of emotions. My many years of work in bereavement and loss have taught me so much about it’s journey and how our grief never truly leaves us, it just shows up in different ways at different times.
Over time, the grief doesn’t lessen but we somehow gently begin to grow our new world around this grief. It is hard but the measure of our grief is the measure of our love and although it can feel lonely, you don’t need to take this journey alone. Do reach out if you feel it would help to have a safe space within which to talk, to share, to remember and to gently begin to find your way forward. 🌱

Physical clutter can cause mental clutter. There can be many reasons why people hoard or just collect things to the extent that it becomes more of a burden than a joy.
Talking to a professional counsellor and psychotherapist can help clients to explore the root causes of the patterns of relating that do not serve them well. Everyone deserves to flourish. Why not a call to find out how we can help. Call or message on 07738444061

So many of my clients say that they leave the session feeling lighter. Worries and difficult life events can feel like a physical weight. Setting this weight down, even if just for a little while, via talking therapy, can help to reset and replenish. 🌱

Feeling heard is crucial to our well-being. Sharing your story with a qualified therapist can validate feelings, give space to explore thoughts and give voice to them without judgement. 🌱

Sometimes, just being in a safe space, without judgement, with a therapist who can step into your story, beside you, listening…really listening, can make all the difference. 🧡

"In a world full of noise, sometimes all someone needs is a quiet presence that doesn’t judge or spread their pain. 🌧️ When life hits with its hardest storms, be the one to offer shelter, not to gossip about the storm. Like Pooh here, sit beside them and offer your heart as the umbrella. 🌂

It’s easy to talk about others’ struggles, but real strength lies in holding someone close, offering warmth, and simply being there. Through every drop of rain, every gust of wind, just sit with them. 🌧️ Let them know that no matter how hard the storm gets, you are not going anywhere. 🌟 When we give love without the need for anything in return, we create a safe space for others to heal.

Your love is the umbrella they may never have known they needed. So today, ask yourself: Can I be that umbrella? Can I show up for someone in their darkest moments? You don’t need to have all the answers or fix everything — sometimes, just being present with love is all that matters. 💖

When you are that umbrella, you’re not just protecting them from the storm, you’re showing them the true meaning of friendship, compassion, and unconditional love. 🌈💫"

A new report claiming children are being “overdiagnosed” with mental health issues and that this risks “undercutting grit and resilience” repeats a tired, misleading narrative.

Like recent comments from Bridget Phillipson and Wes Streeting, it shifts focus away from real action - and ignores the fact that too many children still can’t access the support they need.

Access to a trained, professional counsellor can be life-changing. It gives children a safe space to be heard, to set their own goals, and to begin coping with what they’re facing.
