😀😁😃SMILE! 😃😁😀

* Nothing you wear is more important than your smile.

* Smile and let the world wonder why.

* A laugh is a smile that's lost control.

* Keep Smiling. Keep Shining.

* Smiles are free but they are worth a lot.

This week is National Gardening Week!
🌷🐝🐞🌱🌳💐🌻🍒🥬👩🏻‍🌾

Yoga, offers an holistic way of improving physical strength, flexibility, mental clarity, and emotional resilience.
On the other hand, gardening offers comparable benefits in a more grounded way which can decrease stress, increase self-esteem, and improve physical health. When yoga and gardening are combined, the impact on well being can be profound.

Both practices encourage mindfulness, inner peace, and the deep connection between the body and the environment.

🧘 Perhaps start your day with a yoga session in the garden (weather permitting) as the combination of fresh air and bird song can help you achieve a calmer and clearer mind.

🪴 Doing some gardening tasks like digging, weeding and planting requires various movements that can stretch and strengthen diverse sets of muscles. Afterwards do some calming yoga stretching or restorative poses to benefit and help reduce muscle strain.

Pigeon Pose - Eka Pada Rajakapotasana

Step by step
* From all fours, bring your right knee forwards between your hands.
* Experiment with what feels right for you, giving you a stretch on your outer hip/ hip flexor without any discomfort in your knee.
* Slide your left leg back and point your toes, your heel is pointing up.
* As you inhale, lengthen your spine, draw your navel in and open your chest.
* As you exhale, walk your hands forward and lower yourself towards the floor. You can rest on your elbows and support your head or lie flat on the mat.
* Breathe and try to release the tension in your right hip, extend through the left leg and release your back.
* This can be an intense stretch on the outer hip.

Benefits
* Increases hip mobility.
* Uses core strength to keep your hips level.
* Calms your mind.
* Targets the psoas muscle and hip flexors.

Why not give it a try or come along to a face-to-face class.

It’s National Feet Week and we all know how yoga improves the strength, flexibility and stability of our feet.

Swami Satchidananda said: “Yoga is not only learning to stand on your head but also learning to stand on your feet.”

Upavistha Konasana - my absolute favourite pose!

Wide-Angled Seated Forward Bend (otherwise known as ‘better than a pint on a Friday night’)

It gives you the benefit of an intense stretch of the upper and lower body, the inner leg, critically the muscles which keep your posture strong,as well as the calming effects of a forward fold.

While this pose seems to be all about the leg stretch, but if done correctly it gives equal attention to lengthening your spine which will create long lines.

To avoid collapsing and sacrificing alignment, hold the core as you fold forward,but don’t dip your head and shoulders towards the ground. Keep your back straight and long, look forward and rotate your feet/ legs out, pushing through your heels.

Come and join us to learn more about each pose and feel the benefits that each one brings!

New term starts this week…
