People often think CPD as a therapist looks like sitting in training rooms, reading textbooks, or staring at webinars with a coffee that’s gone cold for the third time ☕😂
And yes… sometimes it does.

But some of the biggest learning doesn’t happen in a classroom.
It happens in the quiet moments of self-reflection.In the uncomfortable moments where we have to challenge our own thinking. In supervision. In noticing our triggers. In recognising when something has impacted us personally. In being honest about the areas we still need to grow.
Being a therapist doesn’t mean we stop being human.
To support others safely and ethically, we have to keep doing our own inner work too. And honestly? That can feel just as vulnerable as the work our clients do in the therapy room.
CPD isn’t always certificates and completed courses.Sometimes it’s self-awareness.Sometimes it’s reflection.Sometimes it’s having the courage to sit with your own emotions instead of avoiding them.
Growth looks different for everyone — therapists included 💛
What does growth or self-development look like for you lately?

This week I’m coming back to myself 🌿

Slowing down. Stepping outside. Letting nature remind me how to just be again.

Sometimes we get so caught up in everything around us that we forget to check in with what’s going on within us.

So this is your reminder (and mine) — pause, breathe, ground yourself. You don’t have to have it all figured out right now.

Even the strongest trees stand still and reconnect with their roots 🌳

Some days it’s not about pushing harder… it’s about switching off.

Closing the laptop. Ignoring the notifications. Letting your brain breathe for five minutes instead of demanding more from it.

We live in a world that praises “busy” like it’s a badge of honour… but constantly being “on” is exhausting. And honestly? It’s okay to step back before you burn out.

Switching off isn’t being lazy.
It’s resetting.
It’s protecting your energy.
It’s choosing yourself for a minute.

Today I’m reminding myself that I don’t need to earn rest — I just need to take it.

So now I’m curious…

How do you switch off when your mind won’t stop? 🤍

Some days really try it, don’t they?

People can be short, snappy, or just plain unkind… and it’s so easy to let that seep in and shift your whole mood. But here’s the thing — their behaviour is a reflection of them, not you.

You don’t have to shrink, snap back, or carry what isn’t yours.

Be kind… not because everyone deserves it, but because you deserve to stay soft in a world that sometimes isn’t.Be kind to others, yes — but especially to yourself on the days that feel heavy.

And if someone’s trying to rain on your parade?Let them. You’ve got better things to do than dance in their storm ☁️

Protect your peace. Keep your energy. Stay you 🤍

Sometimes life feels like winter.

Everything looks bare, quiet… even a little heavy. And in those moments, it’s so hard to remember that this same tree once bloomed so beautifully.

But here’s the truth — the beauty never disappeared, it just went through a season.

Just like us.

When things feel dark, it doesn’t mean your light is gone. It means you’re in a phase that’s preparing you to bloom again… maybe even more beautifully than before 🌸

Hold on. Your spring will come.

Sometimes we have a clear picture of where we’re going. A path mapped out, steady, familiar… safe. And then life gently (or not so gently) shifts things.

Suddenly, the path changes.

And it’s uncomfortable. Because part of us wants to keep walking the road we planned, even when it’s no longer the one we’re on. We can find ourselves resisting, questioning, even grieving what we thought things would look like.

But here’s the quiet truth about change… it’s not just a detour. It’s often where the growth lives.

A change in direction can feel like losing control, but it can also be where we discover new strength, resilience, and parts of ourselves we didn’t know were there. The path may look different, but that doesn’t mean it’s the wrong one.

Sometimes, it’s just… the next one.

So if things feel uncertain right now, you’re not lost—you’re adjusting. And that takes courage too 🤍

The real reward in my work is the trust, the growth, the moments of courage I get to witness every day. 🤍

I don’t do this for gifts…
But I’m so grateful when someone takes the time to show appreciation in their own way.

This little highland friend made me smile more than you know 🥹✨
